** OcUK HAS 21 CUSTOM GTX 1080 MODELS READY FOR PRE-ORDER !! **

Well that's just it, I have no idea...

I am following this thread, I am following EVGA_Jacob on twitter and I am following the hybrid thread on the EVGA forum too.

Just seems like the information is always, "It MIGHT be 1-2 weeks" and then we hear nothing again for 2 or 3 weeks and then the same thing is said again.

Never before have I had to wait so long for a pre-order of any form, it is becoming a complete farce...

EDIT - The 1080Ti will be out before these cards...

Sounds about right xello...

EDIT - adding my original message again so that it doesn't disappear in the thread:

Right, it is now Monday the 8th of August...

Is there any news at all regarding the whereabouts of the EVGA 1080 Hybrid? This has been on preorder for almost 2 months now, and hearing little more than an "It's maybe coming soon" is getting ridiculous.

I am getting to the point that calling the police in regards to missing persons (Or missing components in this case), is almost actually sounding like a reasonable thing to do...

Please, Overclockers/EVGA (More so EVGA of course), this is a complete joke. What is happening with this card?

Nah, we will have the 1180 FE out before you get your hybrid as this rate. :p

Especially now gddr5x chips are in short supply.

Just give up and get the new Titan X!

You should think about taking your complaints directly to the EVGA forums. There are legitimate ones to make and I'm thinking about making a post.

Back in May, OCUK was told by EVGA (Ben I believe) that they were going to receive the Hybrids on the 17th June. The blame lies with OCUK for being so quick to put up an ETA that clearly had no basis in reality. Most of the blame though should fall on EVGA for giving false information. Clearly there's serious communication issues within the company if some of their people are telling the UK's biggest retailer that cards are going to be received months before they actually do.

The thing that annoys me the most is that I can't even bring myself to cancel this order because I've already waited almost two and a half months. The Hybrid could easily come within the next few weeks so I'm scared to cancel because in the end that's the card I really want.

This is my issue as well, I really want to cancel and just get another however this hybrid is in my plans for my new build, as soon as I get my EVGA DG-87 case as well. (Lets hope that doesn't become a waiting farce as well!)

EDIT - The last I saw about the hybrid was from EVGA Jacob addressing the american folks on the evga forums, was that the card was 1-2 weeks away. That was over a week ago...

EDIT 2 - This is the last I saw actually:

Yeah I'm up to date with that thread and post there sometimes.

The Hybrid was supposed to be released this week in the States but was delayed as EVGA Jacob said. Worrying they can't even say it won't be long.

It already is a complete farce and has been for some time.
I would take EVGA Jacob comments as a blag by his past comments to try and keep customers holding on, pure blagger man if i seen one.

Well i took delivery of my gigabyte xtreme today, not impressed to say the least, card has a nutty amount of coil whine, its literally a constant buzzing that's clearly audible over my case fans, i don't normally notice coil whine but this was immediately apparent so must be pretty bad. The card arrived with bent fins (what was that about them having fixed this??) and a box that was opened at both ends inside the shipping box creased all over the show and ripped at one end.

And most importantly, it can't hold its boost clocks without crashing, i can get a few minutes of game-play in before the game crashes out or hangs. The temps are insanely low, gta 4 at 4k maxing at 60c. But all that's for nothing if the card simply can't maintain its clocks without falling into a heap of crap after a few minutes. It boost to around 2050 on its own but as said seems that's a bridge too far for it :(

Thats a shame, the annoying thing is that sending it back under dsr or rma will net you another healthy wait if they are out of stock, sucky.

I'm tempted to grab the zotac 1080 amp extreme. I had considered the gigabyte but after seeing above I think I will give that a miss!

Its a pretty beefy card, playing battlefront at 4k tops out at 68c with fans that are barely audible. The problem is it has a lot of coil whine and as soon as i enable oc mode in the gigabyte app games are only playable for maybe 10 mins before locking up or crashing :(

Thats 2 gigabyte products in a couple of weeks needing replaced, my motherboard and now this. The coil buzz on it is something else, it reminds me a lot of that video of the floppy disk drives playing the star wars theme but in a higher pitch.

Theres no guarantee you won't get similar back either as apparently under dsr or whatever its called now you can return items even if unsealed. Theres one guy on another thread openly admitted he ordered half a dozen of them picked the one with the highest clocks and sent back the rest!

The odd thing even with the gigabyte cards is they don;t do any binning anymore for these xtreme or g1 cards. So they seem to be slapping each card with a preset oc mode in the gigabyte app and basically just hoping it works. Their 980 ti cards had a lot of hurdles the gpu had to go through, not sure why they stopped doing that :(

Cheaper to not test, send the out and hope for the best and accept returns probably.

Returned ones can be resold as lessor ones like Asus is doing.

Irritating, ive to send it back and probably not get a replacement til late this week or early next week because ocuk don't have a 24 hour service to Belfast. They did then it was removed for some reason. :( Best case scenario is friday if its tested on Wednesday and replacement sent same day.
