OcUK Mafia game thread -Game 5

ahh, Egon is gonE. that is quite a loss, he pushed things along a little. Time to analyse voting

That's quite a likely reason, the people who are the most pro active tend to get targeted. It's also why everyone needs to be involved or the quiet ones will get left and they won't help working out who to lynch.

I'm not surprised Egon went. It's who I would have killed if I were playing mafia. Egon is a very good town player so that weakens our hand.

However it now gives me a couple of faint suspicions to keep an eye on.

It's probably something in nothing but how players are acting in comparison to previous games. If you have played or watched these games think how people act in the different roles.

I'm a little stuck with who to be suspicious of, 47 is in a sticky situation. First people point him out, he then votes for someone who is likely to be lynched. they turn out to be a townie. Then in the night phase Egon gets whacked, someone who voted for 47. This is where i'm stuck, is 47 being set up very well or has he got into a sticky situation, panicked and killed someone who pointed him out. However i think 47 is townie being setup, its far to obvious.

Mateser, day one showed his lust for blood saying that he will be voting no matter what on the final day to secure a lynch, suggesting a random number generator just to get and then jumping on 47 with now real reason other than he agreed with egon. Maybe he being the mafia noticed Egon pushing things along, saw egon pick a townie and jumped on it to try and secure a townie lynch with Egon pushing the way. Now that a townie was lynched he is trying to pose as someone who is pushing the town along when he is not, everything he has said has either been a joke or attempting to secure a lynch.

I've learnt my lesson in previous games not to read too much into 47. If he's mafia he'll probably post something incriminating...

Everyone else I will continue to assume they're lying to me. Including you... Which brings me to:

"Lust for blood" is a little aggressive isn't it? Voting on day one is necessary, it needs to happen to help the team. I already decided in previous games sitting on the fence day 1 is pure mafia tactics to avoid looking suspicious, it's normally townies who get aggressive on day 1.

Right now I'm at work so can't look too much into your posts from day 1, but i will be!

what i meant by lust for blood was basically he wanted someone lynched day one and he was was going to get that, whether it be by random number generator or by jumping on the bandwagon

Hmm, I think it was probably suggested as a way to get agreement on a lynch rather than being blood thirsty. Don't forget it was unanimous that we needed a lynch and that most of us were saying it was a random guess before the "lynch the lurker" suggestion. (not that I disagreed with either).

I'm rubbish at finding mafia so take this with a pinch of salt..

Leprechaun I think is town. He is behaving how I would expect him to be as a townie.
Pudney I'm neutral on.
Malteser I can't read but I'll err townie for now.
Shami and Chris have a different tone to their posts so my suspicion lies here for now

My tone is different because I know how combative it became when I was more aggressive in the last game. Yes, we won last game but I was hoping we could do it more collaboratively this time, at least to start with. Without putting words in his mouth, Shami probably is coming across differently because he hasn't been attacked straight out of the gate, and therefore hasn't had to be so defensive.

Comparison to previous games can be useful, but there can be many reasons for differences. In my own case I've only played one other game so it isn't a great sample, and like I say we were successful last time but I need to hear other players opinion too.

comparing previous games is good, but the main differences can be the fact that the mafia aren't the same this game. So the people who had something to hide last game don't this game and others do

I think the difference in behaviour for me and Chris can be put down to last game's day 1 and 2 in particular getting a little out of hand and both of us being incredibly aggressive in the pursuit of each other then the defence of ourselves. In the end we both turned out to be town so perhaps we're just eager to avoid that town divide we had last time, although it did generate a lot of discussion and we ended up winning.

47...I don't know. I feel like we've been down this road before and I concluded it's madness trying to find the pattern in his behaviour!
