Can someone help me?

Minecraft will crash (Black screen and "not responding") when I play in on "far" distance, even on Single player.

I'm running the latest Java, Everything seems up to date.

PC Spec;

Q6600 @ 2.8
4GB RAM
W7 64x
Nvidia 460

Not quite sure why I keep having this happen

The game does the same for me, each time the game goes to a black screen I just end the task and start up minecraft again. Annoying but it only takes a few seconds.

Have you got a texture pack installed? If so, try removing it..if not..try adding one

I've not got one installed this time, I'll get my old one back on.

It bugs me 'cause my brother runs his with far switched on and has never had a problem.

Tried different graphics drivers? Is your brother on the same graphics card as you?

Single player only from what I can tell. Similar for Mo's Creatures - I'd love to have that in game but it's not supported by SMP.

Definitely. As long as it's stable and doesn't cause excessive server load or mess about with anything that will annoy people.

Only real difference is he's ATI and I'm Nvidia, he's got a similar specced card.

I'm on ATI too and haven't had the same issues as you but I'm sure that's not the reason.

No, I doubt it's that.

It's running okay ish now (not had a crash and I've been trucking about single player (with my army of dogs) for about ~25 minutes.

Draw distance on far and I limited my FPS.

About black screens on exit, please try to manually replace the LWJGL libraries with the latest ones and tell me if it helps

might be related to the post from jeb on twitter
I used to get the same issue whit my old card but i got a new one and all works great now.
