I'm already whitelisted and went online for a look last night - but I spawned in the middle of nowhere and couldn't find anything or anyone

Do things get deleted every so often? I don't remember leaving myself in the middle of nowhere

No things don't get deleted, there was recently a map move though.

I remember when I played, if I built a house with a box full of goodies in it - people could just come in and snatch what they want...

Does this still happen? Or is there a way to lock your chests?

You can lock chests now.

chests can be locked and everything you do is recorded and can be undone.

After a bit of advice please lads, I replaced the Minecraft.jar with Freddie's one and deleted the version file, but it autoupdates- anything else I need to delete?

Get the updated launcher from the minecraft website.

you haven't just downloaded the new launcher then carried on using the short cut to the old one are you?
