The rules sheet we have made (not quite yet ready for public release as we've not finished it) is quite clear for this:

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS RULE SET IS A WORK IN PROGRESS AND IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AT ANY POINT!

* Taking items from another player without consent (SL:3)

Punishments:

Severity Level 1 – First warning from a moderator.
Severity Level 2 (or 2 points) – Second warning from a moderator and a closer eye kept on that player with maybe discussions between the admin team about the players actions.
Severity Level 3 (or 3 points) – Final warning with a 3 day ban*
Severity Level 4 (or 4 points) – Perma-ban no if’s or buts with consideration after a few months if they would like to return. This would need a community/admin vote tied to the players request of returning.

(also note that this list doesn't include all the details on the doc we created....and that it has been written by all the admins together and not 'finalised' so the wording may appear weird in parts)

That really is a ridiculous reason to suspend someone from the server for,

just say 'no we were joking, and dont do it again' ....jobs a goodun, he even say he was acting on your advice that no one lived there anymore,

not sure if he's new, doesnt know the etiquette, is young, but this seems a little harsh.

I can see if you want to make an example for multiple infringments, but first offence, when acting on your advice to help toward a build....

anyway, just my tuppence.

It isn't a permanent ban. According to the wording of the rules in the first post we could easily have done that.

It's all well and good letting people off in situations like this (and yes, I agree that it seems a bit harsh) but if we start doing that we get get more and more people asking to be let off because they 'forgot' or 'misunderstood'. Whilst it may be completely true in this case, it likely won't be in all cases and as such we need to stick to the letter of the rules.

im sorry for stealing a iron block from that old place on the hill. i was told the guy who built it doesn't play anymore so we could take stuff from it (i now realise they were joking) and i realise it was wrong to do this now.

i will replace that block of iron and i am sorry for stealing from him, i have learnt my lesson and will not do it again

Considering the work he has put into the server I think this is very harsh. At the end of the day it was a simple misunderstanding made by a new player. And as far a he was concerned, he did have consent as we said he hadn't been playing and joked that we should take the blocks. If anyone is at fault it is us and I would rather have the suspension to be honest as he is really enjoying his first time on SMP and enjoys building things with other people. Have you taken a look at the chat logs? It was yesterday evening it happened, may clear things up.

Also, we need to decide what to do with Takeo's old place, really doesn't look nice and he doesn't play anymore!

I'll discuss your first paragraph with the other admins.

I'm not against moving Takeo's place in theory. It seems to be a griefing magnet (this is at least the third incident involving the build that we have dealt with - possibly a contributing factor in why we are being strict about it). Once again, I'll discuss with the other admins re this.

Thanks. I understand that you have to take things like this seriously, especially when it is as clear as taking someone else's stuff. However this was a genuine mistake and the guy who did it is quite upset that he has been banned when he didn't realise he was doing something wrong. He is really enjoying playing on the server and is his first experience with multiplayer so he really just wants to start playing again! If he knew what he was doing, I would agree with an SL3, and if he wasn't so keen to get playing again I wouldn't bother and just let him sit out his suspension.

I'll leave it down to the mods, and hopefully he can get back into it!

With no-one living in my surrounding area, am I free to change as much of the landscape as I'd like? As I want it to look rather neat and tidy.

Mark I don't think anyone will mind as long as it doesn't look daft, pretty sure the rules are quite relaxed for this sort of thing. If in doubt do a /lb area 20 and see if anyone has already landscaped it - though if it's not sign posted and nobody lives near you I'd assume it was absolutely fine to do as you please. 80%+ of the land hasn't been touched

Guys - I'm building a mega-underground track, currently it leads from my Lighthouse to near Ragelove's Castle, but it's still going until I find somewhere I want to build my next project at, probably an area without anyone near. If I do pop up anywhere I intend to build a small building showing where the entrance is and I'll light it up extremely well. If anyone feels like adding to this track (it's one single lane) feel free as long as it still functions. My main aim is to be able to jump on a cart at my house and end up at my other one. Currently it runs for about 40 seconds, so it's a decent size (about 20% of the width of the entire map).

I'd love to get us all joined up with track either over or under land

I'm no track engineer or builder though, just a fanatical miner !

If the land is unclaimed sure, just make sure you mark it as claimed for yourself so others don't come along and ruin it for you. A ring of torches and a few signs to let people know should suffice.

Thanks guys. I already live there as I have built my house already, I just want to make the surrounding area either side neat and tidy so walking becomes a lot easier

Is there anybody online who could take an updated picture of the server please?

I would like to see the surrounding areas towards the back and sides of my house so I can work out how I want to complete it, and walking around is a bit tricky to get a proper idea.

Wheres your lighthouse? Ive got a huge underground network on the go atm going from my mountain(of doom) and stopping at various places.

Heres a map showing it anyway, the circles are rough locations of entranceways, Its all tracked up apart from the last leg of it.

Would be cool if we could link it all up.
