OcUK Minecraft Server - Rules & Chat

I'd call it BS. :p As I said It's been fine since the server was update to 1.6, however many days ago that was.

That was because fire spread was re enabled.
As fire spread does not do anywhere near the same amount of damage it used to and spreads much slower too.

Glass never stopped fire spread before it. The only reason it ever did was because fire spread was disabled in 1.5 on the server because of how much damage it was causing.

In 1.6 it was changed to do a lot less damage and many of us player asked for fire spread to be turned back on.

Can someone please explain why people have been taking things from my emergency temporary dropbox?

Sad to see the items taken to be honest, but if there's no clear owner and no private marker on it people will assume it's a freebie chest mate. I know in my house if it's not marked private people are free to help themselves.

Looks like it sat for days before anyone took anything, have to give them credit for not just emptying it on sight!

edit- this was in his HOUSE? Surely it wouldn't have taken much to ask folks, not like it was in a mine or near spawn.

I don't mind giving things to people, just that I'd like them to ask first as a rule of thumb.

Has the policy changed regarding unlocked chests then?
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?p=18886316

I know it was silly to leave it unlocked for a number of days but on this kind of server, one expects other players not to take from chests. I know it's limited value items, but my point still stands.

The policy changed when it became clear how unmanageable it is to look after people not locking chests.

The chest locking mod is on there for a reason.

I think you should be allowed to take (or steal I guess :p) from other players chests that don't have a Private sign on it. :p

It still means you're a bit of a gimp if you do it. It's just that it's not practical for us to look after the players like this.

Now that logblock has some kind of chest access logging that doesn't suck it's a bit easier but that doesn't really change things. If we start following up things like this we may as well take the chest protection mod off and then ban the first ten players that fall afoul of the rules.

Oh sure you'd be a total douchebag - but if you don't lock it up, it's free pickings in my opinion - Otherwise, what's the point in the locking system at all :p

Hey French, any word on Whitelisting my boy, CoolAlexB? We were hoping to get some work done together this afternoon?

TIA.
