OcUK Minecraft Server - Rules & Chat

Even if they allow us to upgrade to latest version without mods, I think we should stick with what we have for now. Although we miss out on a few new features for a little while, for the most part everything 'works' and we can still play, so until a proper version of hMod is made or a replacement then what we have right now is fine.

yes, this sounds like a sensible option to me, we have a great "thing" going on now on the map, its coming together really well.

Okay, I downgraded my client. It won't let me conenct to minecraft.net, but I assumed that's because of the downgrade and picked play offline. Now whenever I try to log in it simply says it took too long. Help, anyone?

Yep, I'm happy with 1.1 for now.
Although, when we get the update, we aren't going to have any of that new ore are we? :(
Trees don't really matter, but we're going to have to travel really far to get to a new area to dig the new stuff up.

Unless Windle feels like giving anyone who asks a stack or 2 of the ore? Afaik it's only used for dyes anyway..

Random thought, you can store a chest inside a chest, which is some sort of paradox and should be investigated further.

Well perhaps for new ore what we could do is have a train track go a long distance to an unexplored area and have a community mine.

Just got a mail from MP so more added to the last update I posted from MP.
Windle I not sure if you get the emails from MP ?

This takes the server renew date to the 07/02/11 Not sure if your staying with MP Windle for the hosting. At the moment they have 25% off if you pay 3 months up front so a 18 slot is only £40 for 3 months.
I still have to ask MP to change ownership of the server to you I can't just hand it over as I have other servers on that account. But I will get it done in time. :)

Don't get the emails but I do see the news in Clanforge. It looks likely that I'll stay with Multiplay as they do seem to offer the best support. If we were getting enough in donations I'd fork out for a full dedi box somewhere with full control over mods etc but there's not a huge amount of donations atm.

No worries with the ownership mate, may be best if it's done before 7/02/11 though just in case it causes an issue?

Rizo, can you make an A record with the domain name register site you used for ocukmc.co.uk ? If you point it at the server ip, it means instead of typing in the ip or copy pasting you could just type ocukmc.co.uk and connect :)

"If you own a domain name, all you need to do is make an A record (using the control panel provided by the domain name provider) that points to the IP of your minecraft server (either on the actual domain, or create a subdomain and set an A record for that, ie minecraft.yourdomainname.com ). You'll need to wait anywhere between a few minutes / hours for it to start working after doing this.

You don't need to contact Multiplay. "

I will take a look my friend :p

i'll report back my findings.

It would have to be a subdomain of ocukmc.co.uk because if I understand DNS right, if you make the A record point to the minecraft server then it will no longer be pointing to the IP of the website. Also because the port number is important wouldn't you still have to type in server.domain.co.uk:25665 into the minecraft multiplayer thing? in which case you may as well simply type the full IP, you only need to type it once anyway.

Not sure mate, I know deadmau5' server is just mau5ville.com

also it would redirect the whole site from my dedi server.

edit: mau5ville.com is not a hosted site, just domain name. looks to be pointed at the MC server, nothing HTTP.

.....but there's not a huge amount of donations atm.

When the game is finshed bug & updates free I will be looking at hosting a server again so if you want to team up give us a shout as I have the funds if you wish to go halves. I would take on more of a behind the scenes role. So the offer is there as you have done a good job over the last few weeks with your admin style.
I was very torn over the last few days about coming back & paying for a 3 months 18 slot server but I know it's still not the right time at the moment & greater things will happen when the game is finshed.
Take care of my baby :p

Just got to uni and discovered I can't connect to the MineCraft server, probably due to the limitations of the uni network. I'm gutted. I'll continue to pay attention to the thread however and good luck with all those amazing projects, but I won't be on for another 8/9 weeks probably.

I know there is the rule about inactivity but I would appreciate it greatly if my constructions were respected in my absence. My land is the large stone tower on a hill outside spawn, I can mark it on the cartograph if this helps anyone.

Cheers,
