OcUK Minecraft Server - Rules & Chat

I'm not bothered about any builds.

It would be nice to keep my diamonds and a few other things, but I'm not overly fussed.

I think we should only move the really big projects. Although personally I think it would be nice to just port over with whatever you have on your character :p

Would it not be possible to just delete a bunch of the explored, but unbuilt areas?

If you're treking for rare materials you have to go past so much land that has been stripped of all the clay and flowers. It'd be great if these areas could be deleted periodically, and would probably be a lot less work than copy/pasting stuff to a completely new land.

most of the land in the centre is pre 1.3 though, so no lapiz/fancy trees etc.

plus we'd still have to copy past everything that lies outside the area being deleted.

also who knows what 1.4 will add.

with the new map FT is going to set up an area that every so often will have chunks deleted/reset so there will always be new mats there.

to be honest i think a new map is probably the best way to go.
at lest this way we know we have a clean map without any possible bugs in it.

I don't know what is causing the server lags. I could be the map it could be the plug-ins ether way a nice clean map would rule that out

ok just to test the waters.

If we put a lot of these mega projects in a closish space (most ly the completed ones of course) would people be up for a massive community project of landscaping them all together and making other things around them (tree lined paths, gazzebos/parks etc)

I would do that :D I am getting bored of my area :)

This is the area I want saved:

If that is not possible, will it be OK if I just get the materiel's I need from the admins to rebuild my house instead of you moving it across? :)

How do we save all the things from our chests also?

The only chests that will be saved (including contents + protection) will be those in the new spawn area and any that happen to be in buildings that are copied across.

As stated a few times, we'll need to see how manageable the copying is. If we get too many requests for small items we'll likely have to prioritise things. To avoid this please be sure you only ask for stuff that is important to you to be copied (e.g. main house, as it contains all your item chests, etc). We will also need coordinates of the areas.

We'll go into more detail about this as plans are finalised.

OK :)

When is it likely to happen? :p Because I can move everything I want into my house and just put loads of chests down.

I would be up for that.

Would I be able to keep my tower? It's on that pic you posted, just down and right of yours. The thing with a glass roof (it's full of lava now, and I've replaced most of the cobble with sandstone).

I've also been saving tons of red dye and wool for a future super-meat-boy sculpture. I wouldn't want to lose that stuff.

Can you draw a square on the carto as to what is being kept no matter what please.

As no one will know what 1.4 will bring, surely the best time to do it will be after then.

I think we should just copy maybe one or two of the properly epic builds and just have a square of land full of chests copied :) Would be fun to start again on a fresh server.

I've been saying this for yonks though and always got shot down :p

I don't think it's going to be that simple. People are going to want to keep the various projects, but are going to want them transfered onto completely new land. Not the crappy pre 1.2 land they're currently on.

Personally I'd rather have my bit dumped right in the sea nearish to spawn with a fair amount of space left around it. I've got a lot of plans for how the area will look as a whole so I need the space to expand. Not a huge area though by any means as all my buildings will be tightly packed together.

People aren't going to want their big projects all together :p

Offering to move things across other then the spawn chest thing wasn't a good idea, everyone will want stuff moved.

We'll only be moving large projects over, and possibly a few houses if they meet (currently not decided upon) requirements.

My advice to everyone is to move as many of your important materials as possible to the newspawn area for now.

Well we don't know how hard it would be to move an area as yet. I just measured my the area I've been developing and its 300 by 270 blocks and the full height of the map? Is that too large?? I suppose just my main house in that area could be moved, its about a 30 by 30 by 30 cube maybe.

I tried to get a section of the carto to outline the area, its near Newfoundland, but I can't open the carto in anything that allows me to edit it, keeps crashing my comp

I know only I've been developing the large area but I've just been prepping it so I can ask others to build more there, either way I would need reasonable warning so I could rip up stuff that isn't getting moved.
