OcUK Nvidia RTX series review thread

Oh nvidia this is just embarrassing:

My notebook 1070 outperformed my desktop 980Ti, not the RXT 2080 doesn't even outperform the 1080Ti.

I expect better with Volta/whatever moniker the next gen has.

The Bit Tech review which includes low fps, has some pretty interesting results on some games....

And as I wrote days ago and was vilified, them moment people start overclocking the Turning cards, the power consumption will jump exponentially

What I don't get with these experienced enthusiasts who are buying these cards is we all know what Nvidia are like, they are money grabbing specialists who like to drag out a chipset as much as possible, we get a vanilla card, then we get a Titan to gouge the moneybags with Nvidia refusing to confim a Ti when we all know its coming and yet with these cards they drop a Ti day one and unless they really screw us with a 2080X which is almost as fast as Ti but £200-£250 cheaper in 6 months then it's pretty obvious we will have 2nd generation RTX cards next year.

This is looking like a shocking release! Over priced! For very little gain! RTX is 1080p low FPS downgraded for everything else.

If you a buyer enjoy, this surely is one of Nvidia epic fails but the fun fact is they will still sell LOL Nvidia is like Apple can not do wrong! Even the Cooler is a pain in the backside to remove if you into water cooling or like to clean out the GPU once in awhile! Good luck you need a heat GUN! LOL XFDD

Why do you need any kind of AA at 4K? I've always switched off and for good reason, you cant notice it.

You notice it if you look at an absurd thing like telegraph lines in say Source games you will see it but really the tech is designed for the fools who raytrace at 1080p.

It is the stupid bandage to a stupid generational problem.

Worst GPU launch I've seen so far. I've seen quite a few too xD

Guess you never witnessed Vega's then. That launch was far more disastrous and dragged out.

Not only are these cards silly expensive they are only 20-30% faster, and when you turn on it's USP, ray tracing, it tanks the FPS...

Not true. 2080Ti is 30-40% better than 1080ti and 2080 is 6-11% better on average and this is all without DLSS.

Oh nvidia this is just embarrassing:

Please stop lying. Benchmarks show a 6-11% lead over 1080ti for the 2080 and this card was not even supposed to compete with it. Then add in DLSS and the 2080 is the clear winner.

We needed Amd or Nvidia to put ray tracing into a gpu so software gets coded for it, with luck it will get the ball rolling and in a generation or two it will look great and we will get good fps as well.

Well it isn't like you would have bought nvidia regardless of anything :D Oh and I had a great evening in The Kop last night with the wife. Best atmosphere I have seen in years.

OT sorry
Yeah great result I was sitting in Tenerife last night watching it, now home in the great British weather.

OT
True I wouldn't, still allows me to express my view though :D
Vega launch was The worst I have seen :D

In truth, I am shocked at the prices though and very steep.

Just read a post a page back why upgrade when you will not notice thr 35%. Been there done that problem games demand a long time. Second why Raytrace now? No online game will be Raytracing?

So were left with single player games. Now then consider my arguement that all these Raytracing games will be £40 but unfinnished as most end the DLC factory and then i call a game finnished. So it is not smart to buy a RTX because a finnished Raytraced game with the game of the year edition and all the content is at least 12 months. What else is in 12 months?

Your RTX replacment with another 35%. Sorry but the maths do not add up error 404 Nvidia.

Yes Sir, right away Sir.

(Or maybe, just maybe, you could look at the source I quoted and compare with all of the other sources and take a median figure? (That would give the 1080Ti the slight edge over 2080)).

However, if you have pre-ordered a 2080/Ti, I hope you enjoy your card. :)

I've looked at Gamernexus and Techspot so far.

GN have it as 2080 = EVGA 1080Ti SC whilst the latter puts FE against FE within 1%.

Those look like nvidia slides to me, where is it from?

Paul's hardware has the 2080 as 5% below 1080ti.

So that is 3/3 now saying they are about equal.

GN, Techspot/HardwareUnboxed and Paul's Hardware.
