OcUK Photo Comp - Season Five : Round Five - "Emotion" DISCUSSION

Mines up :) prob crap :eek: :D but hey its all good fun. Went for the deep in thought, thinking of past people and human history sorta angle and the emotions that brings up, how people leave there memory behind long after there gone, the wooden statue says that to me quite well.

Wierdly, I took my shot before mrgubby had posted his (maybe we are both sick insect voyeurs!). His is a much better photo, but I thought there was a strange irony to flies doing it on a beautiful rose, there's more romance there than a lot of women will ever see! ;) Though in reality fly sex on a rose it may not be driven out of emotion, it would certainly embody romance if applied to people (flower petals on a bed, etc).

It's also my first ever entry so I thought i'd give the comp a go to encourage me to take pictures with my new e500.

I cant see any determination tbh, unless you have studied flies emotion and know how they express feelings? That is, if they have any?

I would agree. Since the act of flies mating is purely instinct and no pleasure or emotion is involved, why not call the shot "No emotion", or lack of etc......

Imho it would then still fit into the cirteia of this competition.
 
I've changed mine again :/

After a lot of ideas that almost went to completion (i.e spent ages gathering stuff, making props etc) I went with my original idea. My secondary idea was for a triptych involving these images:

I was planning to do one for anger involving some Lego men and a car accident for anger :D , but neither of the above images really had enough impact imo.

Mrgubby, I did like your image, and technically it was damn good. It was like the image you submitted for the 'Yellow' compo in that the chances of getting an image like that again would be slim. I think the Hoverflies (that's what they were iirc) would've done very well at least from a technical standpoint. I think though that some of the judges may have had issues with the interpretation.

wow thanks terras only my second entry but managed to borrow my mates

camrea rather than use my camrea phone again. Really wanted to create the

feel of fear, hope it does well.
