Belt doesn't really help in this scenario. The belt is designed to keep your core tight which should prevent you from lifting with a horribly rounded back, but if your form flops the belt won't save you.

But given that it would have been keeping his core tight in aiding the poorly formed lift, that absolutely has to count for something.
 
68kg / 90kg+ / 140kg ----- [85kg BW~] ----- 298KG


The bench is DB, as had no spotter and can't remember what my 1RM is. Hopefully got a spotter tomorrow, be nice to see if I can get my BW. I reckon its possible, still got a bit of a dodgy shoulder though.

Also need to get my finger out and do a 1RM on squats.

It doesn't, not at all. A belt can't reduce the stress on your disks if you're bending your back like that.

JaWalks, it might be hard to train properly in an environment where people seem to encourage hitching (:rolleyes:), but you're potentially putting your ability to walk pain free at risk.

Get in. New PB this morning on Deadlifts, got three out before I could feel my form slipping so stopped.

Going for PB on bench next week, squats may be a while as I get scared going heavier! :eek:

gonna be testing my new 1rm's soon just thought i should post up my current ones, these were done around Jan-feb12

Targets for next 1rm test will be 100kg bench 140kg squat and 150kg deads with solid form on squat and deads as i have been working on form there not strength over the last couple of months
 
Nice work Syla5, when are you next testing?

hoping to test in two weeks time my goal at the start of this year was 100kg bench before my birthday which isnt until may so if i test now and fail i have another couple of weeks to go hardcore strength ;)
