I don't know what freefaller is getting at. Look at any bodybuilding forum and all you see are 17 year olds benching 130kg, squatting 200kg and deadlifting 225kg.

Hmm perhaps on here peolpe are more honest?

I see load of peolpe from loads of gyms saying they can do XYZ.

I have left my main Gym and found one closer to home and £15 a month! whenever i squat i get a crowd watching and thats the same at any gym i vistit!

Current BW is 95.5KG cutting like a champ - arms/chest/legs still same size so all good :-)

Hey started training properly last few months so thought I might jump in as I want to be less of a lurker now.

Got my new one rep max on bench last week at 110kg including bar. Managed 6 at 100 before too which was a nother PB for me too so was extra happy. :D

Deadlift is 150 x 3 reps atm as my max hoping to increase this now as I just got some straps however that was clean.

Squats I have only done a couple of times as it depends on the gym and when ever i go to do legs in my workout i seem to be at the gym with no rack so it's at 120 on smith machine for those but they were sets of ten so again hopefully improve that.

Oh i weigh 88kg too. :(

Any one got good guides to squatting with racks and spotting when doing it? Want to teach my friend so we can spot each other.

Hmm Guide to spotting?

If im spotting i will stand fairly close to the guy squating once he is setup with the bar, then squat along with him more or less and if he gets stuck my hands will grab him around the lats/chest and slowly pull him up with the amount of force required.

So if he is stuck just a tiny little tap is all thats needed, but if he gets in trouble then pull him up.

Or depending on the posistion of the saftey bars it maybe eaiser dropping the weight to the bar if agreed by you and the guy trainging, we use a nodding system, a nod = bar going down to safty bars!

Experiance will let you know which option is best! Hope that helps a little?

I get this too as I'm the only person at my gym who squats freeweight (with some improvisational boosting off the oly bench.

I don't really mind people watching as long as they aren't infront of me so I don't get distracted.

Had a few lads , rather impressed, come up and ask how long I'd been squatting for. When I told them little over a year they seemed shocked. It might actually help them if they started squatting. It's like winning the lottery, you can't win if you don't play/buy a ticket!

I'd suggest that most arent' doing full reps and/or being economical with the truth.

Also you point out something fairly fundamental. "bodybuilding forum". This is a computer based forum with a side process for hobbies of which one sub forum is sports.

17year olds that can lift over 500kg are rare and remarkable so I suggest that you're also slightly misinformed :)

Easy cyclist-basher, I wasn't being serious!

I was reading through some of the big lifts (which are certainly very impressive) on this forum and it just made me think about how much people elsewhere on the internet inflate their lifts - to the ridiculous point where it seems like every other teenage poster you see is allegedly matching you and Morba in strength levels (which as you say is rare and remarkable)! It just doesn't match up with the reality I see in the gym or what I see on this forum.

That's precisely why I like this forum so much, because even though it's a small subforum of a computer shop (and I'm not remotely into overclocking or gaming any more) there's just about none of that ego-driven nonsense, just good advice and a good atmosphere.

So there :p

Exactly why I prefer to spend time in the Sports Arena than on other BB forums.

You do get some VERY entertaining individuals on BB forums. You do however have plenty of stereo typical meat head, gear abusing, under educated idiots with some of the worst spelling, grammar and punctuation you would believe!

You do however also have some incredibly knowledgable individuals, much like we have here, who have achieved incredible amounts. Not to mention champions in particular areas of the sport.

I very rarely go on the Bodybuilding forum due to all the trolling and general bitching, but the site itself has useful information.

Snip!
Thanks it was the positioning I was wondering most.

Also I agree these forums are good and generally very honest much better than most and the people on it a lot more chilled.

it is rare, but find a topic specific forum and the rare become normal as they group together.
I'm terms of strongman, there are some monsters coming up in comps, from 19 years old upwards. Amazing lifters, though most likely drug assisted to some extent.
