G_dawg posted as I suggested he should, he has upped his lifts recently too

Dead - 245
Squat - 250
Bench still the same
BW 118.5KG

I have just walked over and suggested he posts more on this site! (We work in same place....)

But i do agree that maybe after say 6week of no activity maybe removed?

I haven't any problems with his lifts being up there and they are very impressive no doubt about it. I just don't agree with registering, willy waving, pinching the top spot and then disappearing off again. On a larger forum I wouldn't be bothered but as the BB/PL community in SA is relatively small (in posters anyway haven't a clue about lurkers!) it's a tight unit. I'm sure Icecold and I aren't the only one that feel this way.

OK ok, chill out Benny!

A) I never said you had a problem!
B) He hasnt willy waved - he stated his lifts, answered all questions he was asked by the community...
C) Pinched the top spot? Not really, he got the top spot because he is the strongest??? You want it, then train harder, It makes me train harder every session!
C) Things happen in peoples lives that are a little more important than keeping a forum updated!

Ahhh and more importantly if there are no increase in his lift then why would he post? It was only last week he got the increased lifts..

As i said, i have mentioned to him to post more, we have another PB attempt in two weeks ill make sure he updates the forum as will I...

You don't need to tell me to chill :p and I never said you did?!

I didn't mean willy wave in the way it's normally meant.

There are some things that are unachievable for certain people regardless of how hard they train. Without the use of AAS telling someone to train harder is a little bit silly. Want to break the world record deadlift of 457.5KG odd? train harder?

If I was really that bothered I'd have RTM'd it and be whinning to FF like a little ***** for the past 6 months! lol

What baffles me more is why even post in the first place on an internet community that you have no intention of being part of of contributing to?

Makes me uber sad face being down so low in the ranks, but going for strong lifts is not going to work for me right now :(

Come August, you guys are going down!

Number 1 baby, yeah buddy!

Ok ok lets stop this **** because it can go on forever...

But on one thing you mentioned....

"There are some things that are unachievable for certain people regardless of how hard they train. Without the use of AAS telling someone to train harder is a little bit silly. Want to break the world record deadlift of 457.5KG odd? train harder?"

Not my way of thinking at all, if someone else can do it then why cant you? (not you as in you, but as in that's how I think)

Anyway lets leave it there, as people have said its a decent community, lets not start a slanging match

TommyV -------- 113 / 118 / 185(s) -------- [85] ---- 416

Stoopid squat, should start taking them more seriously -_-

WILL hit 500 total before end of 2011 ^^

The point is that this is a community, only posting to update your lifts is missing the point if you have not and will not participate further. I'm not suggesting that people aren't welcome or that they have to post to take part. My point is, if you don't want to post and take part in the community, why would you be interested in the league table on this forum?

There are many many people stronger than the people in this thread, I've trained with some of them and it doesn't bother me in the slightest. I'm also not bothered that there are people stronger than me in this thread, but I'm far more interested in some friendly competition with people that take part in the community.

I think removing people is more complicated than just a period of inactivity. It would be a shame to remove some of the old school member's totals.

Missing the point?????

I thought the point was to post your lifts & BW as it states in the opening post?

Nothing about having to update regularly? He only posted as i mentioned it, same as Butch, if its easier i wont bother getting people who lift adding to the stats, whats the fuss about for god sake like....

Plus if I'm not mistaken, which I might be as I cant be bothered to trawl through the whole thread Icecold - you only turned up 5 days ago?????????

Did you read my post? I didn't say he had to update regularly, I was saying it's a shame if people don't take part in the community in Sports Arena.

Despite the fact that I didn't just "turn up 5 days ago", I wouldn't be upset if I wasn't included in the table.

Why cant we just leave this as i have already said????

The ref to u joining 5 days ago was not about including you or not mate, was about you saying this is a community etc...

I don't disagree with your way of thinking at all as it's a good source of motivation. However unless you are genetically gifted there are just some things we are all unable to achieve and we have to accept that however it doesn't mean we can't try. For example run 100meters in under 10 seconds. This is genetic if you haven't got the balance of fast/slow twitch fibres it's not going to happen no matter how hard you train. To think otherwise is unrealistic and naive.

As for Icecold, he has contributed more to the community here in his short time than G-DAWG has in 8 months. I personally believe the league table should have a similar rule to the MM. That's my opinion and I'm entitled to it. Whether or not anything comes of it I couldn't care less. This is a discussion forum for people to voice their experiences and opinions so don't be surprised if people do just that :)

My opinion is that this is for people either in the community or joining it. It's not a table for random people to just put names and stats on if they aren't going to be a part of the forums (as a whole, not just SA. If the poster posts elsewhere then they are ocuk poster).

Though as I stated before, it's just a bit of fun friendly competition. We can all get people to sign up and post their stats and be impressive (I speak to enough of the strongman community!!).

There only needs to be one rule to the table.

Videos :D

Oh Yes I totally forgot about that.

  • State your 1RM (one rep max) for the 3 big lifts in Kilos. Preferably using a normal olympic 20kg barbell.
  1. Bench
  2. Squat
  3. Deadlift
  • State your bodyweight in Kilos.
  • If you have less than 250 posts, please post a video if you want to join us on the score board.

That is the end of that then :p

Agreed.

Although according to T1Cybernetic, the rule already exists, so there isn't really a problem. But I would think it unfortunate if a persons only post was video proof of a lift and that was enough to qualify.

I'll have a look through the totals later (uber stressed/busy at the moment) and make a decision on who whould be there based on the agreed rules for this thread.

There will only be 1 table, it will be stated if you're using aids, and I will make the call as to who to remove/add. This is not that serious a competition.

I want there to be a community spirit and people to get involved in the forum. I don't think people turning up and stating their lifts (whether the best or the worst) adds anything unless they get involved. However, it gives milestones for people to aim for. Though it does seem pointless to have a league table for regular members where there are many "dead" results being listed.

I'd like to re-inforce that 250 post vids rules. I'll take a view over it tonight when I get home.

Can you adjust my lifts.

Bench - 145kg
Squat - 130kg
Deadlift - 180kg

Weight - 79kg

Going to get a belt soon and see what I can do - any recommendations?
