Whats the best way to increase bench press? Keep lifting to failure then drop the weight?

No.

Progressively increase your load each workout. You don't have to fail reps to increase strength and failing reps isn't the best approach.

High frequency, low volume and progressive load will see you the best strength gains.

I really want to get hold of some big chains for use on bench press. Not only does it give you a nice way of increasing the load as you lift, but it makes you look like a badass too.

Hey FF, my latest;

Bench - 135kg Raw
Squat - 130kg Raw
Deadlift - 190kg Straps

BW - 91kg

Really need to concentrate on my squat, can do 100kg for 12/10/8 comfortably, but going to heavy but so much strain on my poor left knee it gives me jip for a couple of days after, maybe knee straps will help.

Got an update on my bench, Managed to pop out 3x5 80Kg and then a 90KG 1RM which updates me to a grand total of.

T1Cybernetic -------- 90 / 165 / 190 -------- [100] ---- 445

I've not done anything heavy especially squat's and dead's for a few weeks owing to a dodgy pull in my lower back but bench and overhead press has been something I can do with no problems luckily ;)

Only just seen this thread:

130 / 200 / 250 - 121.6kg

I use belt for squats and straps for deadlifts.

By the way that 130 is my normal bench, 3x8, I havent got a 1RM max so I guess I have to just use 130 for now because thats heaviest I've ever lifted on bench.

Having just squatted two sets of 10 reps last night at 92.5kg, and hopefully making it two sets of 10 @ 95kg tomorrow, I'm optimistic that I'll smash my current PB of 100kg (for reps) after I finish my 2 weeks of 5s!

OK I might as well add mine. Nothing impressive at all, but to say I couldn't deadlift 50kg/bench 40kg 2 months ago it's not too bad!

Squat: 90KG Bench: 80KG Deadlift: 110KG

I still look like a skinny version of a pepperami man, not idea why
