OCUK pre built PC to replace xbox

Always best to double check I would hate to give you incorrect info and then it cause issues with your pc.

Keep us informed of your progress.

Thanks, I’m just a bit undecided on GPU, at current prices the 4080 is way over my original planned budget, if I were to get one now, not that I will.
But perhaps I should go back to my original plan and get the 4070ti super and see how I get on, it’s not like I can’t upgrade in the future.

I think the 4070ti super is capable of 4k gaming as well.

This one I see is in stock and the size looks perfect for my case.

Maybe it's your call just be happy with your decision but once priceing is announced it should be easier.

Ces starts tomorrow so maybe some news if upcoming GPUs then, The latest rumors Nvidia’s RTX 5080 will go on sale Tuesday, Jan. 21.

Not started anything yet until weekend, just wondered about something, my motherboard has 2 x 8pin cpu power headers I believe.

In the manual it doesn't make it clear if I need to use both, its just has a picture of one 8 pin socket connection and then the wording (cpu power 1~2)

I read that you only need to use both if you overclock, but would it be best to use both anyway even though I don't plan to overclock?

Thanks

Usually You only need the one closest to the CPU but if you have both connections from your PSU use both just in case the motherboard is picky , motherboard manual will tell you.

Remind which board you got.

MSI x670e Tomahawk

Not studied the PSU yet to see what connections are available.

Best to check ( I mite make a mistake but highly unlikely :D), you have all the connections for both .

Just checked have 2 cables for cpu power, so will use both cpu power connections.

I have that 12vhpwr 12+4 pin cable as well, that’s for the GPU, I presume that’s the only cable I need? so that looks quite simple. (Actually I think its the newer version 12v 2x6 connector)

Overall I think I know what cables I need from psu, looks simple enough, time will tell.:D

I have 1 cable in my case that im a bit unsure where it connects to on my motherboard, it's a cable that comes from the cases RGB control panel.

One goes to PSU via SATA but a smaller cable goes to motherboard, I believe its supposed to go to JRGB rainbow connector, on my board I have a few JRGB connections and also 2
JARGB_V2_1~2: A-RAINBOW V2 (ARGB Gen2) LED.

Would I connect the cases RGB control panel to one of the latter ports?

Does not mention this at all in the cases manual.

Yes if you want to controlle them via the motherboard.

According to MSI the 110r has argb fans so that would need to connect to the JARGB header on the motherboard.

Post a pic if you unsure.

I think I can leave it unconnected then, as no interest in that, will just control it via the button on top of the case.
Thanks
Also I have to connect 4 case fans to the motherboard, 3 go via a splitter the other direct, on my board I have 6 system fan connections, I’m presuming I can connect to any of these.
I’ll work it out :D

Building today, I’ve installed the phantom spirit 120se cooler and the outside fan touches the ram sticks, I’ve searched and most suggest raising that fan slightly, but how much clearance should the ram have?

I have raised it just enough so it’s not touching the ram sticks.

Build complete :) , thanks for all the help @mickyflinn and others.

Ive just got to get a windows key now, and I think I will update to latest bios soon, installed a few main drivers already like chipset, wifi/LAN drivers.

Im not sure if I need to adjust anything in the BIOS? perhaps RAM settings?

Below was a temporary location while I got the wifi drivers and installed windows.

Your welcome.

Very nice build .

Check bios version and then update if needed remember to check memory speed is correct .

You can get PSU cable combs that will tidy up the cables if you wish to.

Best way to test your pc is to play a game at high settings.

Enjoy.

Thanks, how do I check ram speed, bios I presume, but what am I looking for?
The ram sticks are the ones you originally linked me Corsair Vengeance 64gb /6000 CL30.

what you drop into bios you will be in EZ mode, there will be an option to enable XMP/EXPO just turn it on and your good.

you system looks nice, what GPU did you end up picking

Thanks.

Will update bios first then before I do that.

I got the gigabyte 4070ti super OC gaming.

Build was fairly straight forward using help here and video build guides, some cables were tough to fit at times though, really struggled with the 2 cpu power connections as my cpu cooler was hindering my space to fit them!

Lesson learned, in future good idea to fit certain cables first before installing the cooler.
