The Matrix has exactly the same problem, with a large surface area of heatpipes sitting there doing nothing.

EDIT: Very tasty price on the Matrix. Had I not already picked up a Titan I might have been interested (although would have still had the Eyefinity niggles I had in the past).
Nope its available elsewhere at £229 for a Tri-X OC. From snooping
around the net it looks like they EOL.
If it's gonna be the CU one, that's disappointing but the price is solid though given that the MSI was just 10 more last week, not that good comparatively. Still, if it does end up being the Gigabyte, I'm gonna need to do some disgusting things to scrap together some money for it.

i doubt the 390X will be under 400, if it's close to a TX it'll be easily 550 quid
it's the 380X that'll be cheap
these 290Xs are a massive bargain esp if the MSI Lightning drops in price a fair way..

given the value for money increase brought on by a new process node in 12? months time and the uknowns on how DX12 might affect the state of play...buying a cheap/old gen card now (if you have to buy now)..seems a better bet...i wouldnt spend £400 on a card with a process shrink 12 months away..

This post helps me a lot, thanks. I've been trying to decide whether to upgrade now or wait, but I think I'll just go for it and then see how things look again in a year or so, as these prices are pretty great and anything will be a nice upgrade from my 6950.
Not sure about this particular card though, or that I want to wait until the 1st for availability.
