OCUK Rolling Road 11 - Saturday March 19th 2011 - Eurospec, Guildford - Pictures, graphs, discussion

Slight extremes there.. why is and has Peerzys figures been such an issue for you two? Everyone else can see that it should be pretty easy to extract that extra power from a forced induction car!
It's not an issue for me at all. I only care for the comment that a Fiat 1.4 Turbo producing upwards of 150 HP is not standard for a relatively unstressed engine :p

As Alex (who isnt called Alex ) said, the numbers in 172/182/197/200's are PS figures. The 182 is therefore 179BHP, but nobody has ever got that from a stock 182. Renault were optimistic with the 172, and the 182 is only a slightly modified version of that. 175BHP is bang on what most people get with mildly modded 182's.

I think the issue here is more with peoples own expectations than results. It was exactly the same with Powerstation, only the other way round. Someone ran higher than expected and everyone decided that PS rollers over read.

That's the post that confuses me, originally you thought that the remap had been wiped, hence the low power reading, before others started thinking that their readings were also low.

How can you not tell if your car is no longer mapped or not  you must've had some inkling to come to that conclusion in the first place before the convenience of blaming the RR?

I came to that conclusion on the day, believing the RR was pretty much spot on. More a shot in the dark on the day than actually thinking about what was wrong.

It was only when I had a proper look at my whp figures from previous RR's that it started to look weird, then seeing how lots of other people are down.

The car is much faster than standard - no questions. I did a G-Tech run and it was 1.5seconds faster to 60 than standard. People say these are not totally accurate but not enough to get it 1.5 seconds wrong.

@PMKeates - The idea of saying look at an Evo is that 130bhp/litre isn't that stressful.

A few guys are running Bravos up to 210bhp without much more work, anything more than that and you need a bigger turbo but the 1.4 engine would still stay.

180bhp from a 1.4 turbo isn't that big, anyone was welcome to come for a drive in my car and you might actually have been slightly suprised.

I'd like to stress this engine and turbo makes 180bhp in another road going car sold in the UK!

I'll post all my guff up at some point (read: when my internet works at home again).

I'm not going to whinge endlessly about why mine didn't make the expected power, was slightly unexpected but in my experience Dyno Dynamics rollers have always been a bit inconsistent.

My car doesn't feel any different than it did when I last took it to Sumo Power and so I guess that will be the teller when I get it back there. However, in likely hood it will be there to get it mapped for dirty old 95RON in preparation for the future :(

Facilities wise I thought Eurospec was a bit ghetto, the whole estate appeared to be on its last legs, the dyno room and "offices" built out of breeze blocks and what with the "sideways windows" and all. Couldn't believe the sheer amount of cars in and around the place, I've never seen a tuner with so many cars on site.

I also was very surprised that they didn't strap my car down from the off. Hardly surprising that it skipped and then went walkies.

EDIT: It's also worth mentioning that from my conversation with the dyno tech afterwards, he didn't seem overly confident in the dyno himself or dyno dyanmics rollers in general.

Also, I want to emphasise that my comments are in no way with regards to the organisation of the day, I think Kosta did a sterling job :)

OOOooo nice cars, pics and vids everyone :D

Gutted I couldn't make it with my shonky old 430bhp track toy but I was at a Llandow track day in Wales testing it on Sat, if there ever is another one I shall make it!!

Ooo, just in time coolamasta. How was Llandow? Few mates and I are thinking of going for a trackday as its uber cheap and on a weekend.

Never driven it before but it was a lot of fun once I learned the track a bit, it doesn't look much but it has some great fast corners and some very fun twists, I was hitting approx 110-120 on the main straight and breaking damn hard before a 90 degree left turn, if you have driven Castle Coombe before this is quite different! And yeah its pretty cheap so I highly recommend you give it a go mate :D

Maybe we should arrange an OCUK track day next??
;) :D :D

I think this has been tried before and failed, unfortunately. I have seen that you can hire a complete package from Llandow though (days track hire, number of marshals, helmet hire, etc) and about 15 - 20 people makes it cheap. Unfortunately I don't think we would get the interest from OcUK.

I'll give Llandow a go then. For £90 its gotta be worth it, right?

Ah what a shame, seems like there quite a few people into their trackdays on this forum, never know though, might start a thread to see if there is any interest, if not nothing lost :)

Yeah £90 for a full day is a bargain really considering Castle Coombe is nearer £175 and somewhere like Silverstone is £260+ although you are paying for a awesome track there to be fair.
I blew a boost hose off after 6 laps and had to get towed off the track, head Marshall is a good laugh as well. Doooooooooooo it!

Llandow looks like a glorified roundabout?
I thought that it looked a bit poor when I first seen it but driving it is totally different and great fun plus you need a fair bit of skill to get round "The bus stop" and "Devils Elbow" at high speed, deffo worth the £90!

Romain suspects the exhaust has some blockage, possibly in the CAT, so I'll get that and the rest of the exhaust off for a look when I'm back from abroad. It's not just VTEC that is down on power, that come sin fine, but it seems like the whole power band is down.

VTEC kick is certainly there but it does seem to lack something. That could be down the the results now influencing my mind and the bum dyno, but we shall see.

Only modifications are an Injen short Ram intake and a Comp Clutch 4kg flywheel in the box.
