OCUK Rolling Road 11 - Saturday March 19th 2011 - Eurospec, Guildford - Pictures, graphs, discussion

Never driven it before but it was a lot of fun once I learned the track a bit, it doesn't look much but it has some great fast corners and some very fun twists, I was hitting approx 110-120 on the main straight and breaking damn hard before a 90 degree left turn, if you have driven Castle Coombe before this is quite different! And yeah its pretty cheap so I highly recommend you give it a go mate :D

Maybe we should arrange an OCUK track day next??
;) :D :D

theres never enough interest.

People are quite happy to put their car on a dyno but less so to risk damaging it by taking it on a track day.

Then theres the considerable cost from brakes, tyres, wear & tear etc..

Its been done before and a few club together to go, but ultimately if you want a big social day you need something like a RR day.

Its probably already pretty stressed at 150bhp - remember it's sold mostly in lower power variants than that.

It's sold in one lower power variant and one higher power variant, it's not that stressed at 150 at all.

Why should Peerzy be the only one to get an accurate reading from Eurospec and the only one to be way over-ready by Power-station? Pull your knife out the FIAT.

By that logic, and going on what many other people say about the ST220 engines, mine would have nearer 237bhp ;) Hence why I wanna get it on the Powerstation rollers now, for a little comparison :)

BMW quote their headline figure of 231PS based on high octane petrol whereas Ford doesn't. The owners manual for my 330ci tells of a figure of 221 with standard petrol. However my friend's ST220 made 8PS more than my car when we visited a dyno together even though both were on vpower. I think it was 237 vs 229

Whilst the owners manul does say the the the performance and power figures are based on 98 RON fuel, I dont beleive it states a power output on lower RON fuel?

vtak defo lacking there Ad, see my ek9 graph - can clealy see it coming in at 6200rpm ish, whp figures:

I'll check to see if I imagined that part about the lower figure. I'm fairly confident it's in there so I'll check next time I get the chance to get the manual out.

I could well be wrong about ford basing its numbers on 95. I'd always thought the discrepancy could be because of the estimation that goes into deriving a figure for flywheel when all you really have is wheel power.

mjt - 233bhp (+ 5% = 244bhp) = Was expecting about 242bhp (ish?)
I was expecting 231bhp actually, considering that's stock.
The Eisenmann adds nothing but noise :p

Facilities wise I thought Eurospec was a bit ghetto, the whole estate appeared to be on its last legs, the dyno room and "offices" built out of breeze blocks and what with the "sideways windows" and all. Couldn't believe the sheer amount of cars in and around the place, I've never seen a tuner with so many cars on site.

EDIT: It's also worth mentioning that from my conversation with the dyno tech afterwards, he didn't seem overly confident in the dyno himself or dyno dyanmics rollers in general.
Frenchie? What did he say?
I asked both him and the young guy about it and they said their machine is very accurate.
RE: ghetto facilities - yes! Loved the 'office' after you pointed it out to me :D

I know, that was the most depressing bit. It comes in ok and there is kick but the rollers don't seem to agree with butt dyno. But I did mention to a few people that it did feel lacking.

Maybe i should try a 0-60 just for the hell of it :D

Ad should be atleast 110lbft, my Sir-G was 125 :P

Rub it in why don't you, you fancy sod with your KERS :D:D:D

Could indeed be exhaust block. Whats the cam timing like, also dissy timing? 16Btdc on the strobe with diag plug shorted.

Cam timing: Not a clue.
Dizzy Timing: Not a clue.
16Btdc on the strobe with diag plug shorted: Errrrrr :confused::D

Might need to get it down to TGM/Performance Autoworks should the exhaust be freeflowing as I haven't done any engine work before and certainly don't have the knowledge to do it at this time.
