OcUK RX5800X3D review thread

5800x3d will age fine unlike non3d cpu-s from both company, in future Intel will also increase amount of cache so that will motivate developers to put more and more data in the cache, and because 5800x3d have huge amount of cache it will beautiful translate to performance, and we seen games that loves cache can have up to 50% performance increase. Even now 5800x3d have good gains in minimum framerates which is most important.

Am like that most nights after being on discord

Pretty sure he said 450 to 500 at most and the 600/700 were BS

The thing about MLID he babbles in a very disjointed way and often contradicts himself about 3X in 10 minutes of babbling, i'll give you an example of this, when he said late last year that Intel will be launch their GPU in Q1 this year he predicted performance will be RTX 3070, after more babbling he said RTX 3060TI, some more babbling he said RTX 3070TI, later he said it might only be RTX 3060, what he's doing is covering all the bases, its what people do when they have no idea but want you to think they know, he's covered the entire range of where it could possibly land so he can later claim "see, i told you it would be RTX 3060TI, i was right" and he does that "i told you so" all the time.

For this prediction what he actually said was.

Well now i'm here to tell you they almost certainly will, not 850 watt, the current reference design i can confirm to you today seems to be 600 watt total board power

Tho, as i said he may well have contradicted that at some point later in the video.

That's what I'm betting on too.

@humbug I like MLID's stuff but he does seem to have a big ego. Probably come with the territory and relying on it for income. I wouldn't bet against these YouTubers being fed misleading information either. I see the speculation as a bit of fun, I wouldn't bet my house on it though!

He has some very good and interesting guests on from time to time, he does have some insights and reasoning for his speculations which i use to form my own opinions, i think he does have people in the industry that talk to him and i have no doubt he get accurate information from them but i do think quite a lot his speculation is educated guess work, and he's a smart guy who wants to be seen as some sort of hardware oracle, with that makes sure no one can accuse him of getting it wrong, he does that by making multiple predictions in a range any one of us could pull out of our rear ends.

Escape from Tarkov seems to love 3DVCache.

5800X3D 1440P 234 FPS MAX / 172 AVG

Intel i9-12900K 202 MAX / 130 FPS

Impressive stuff. Definitely pleased I went for it. Looking forward to see how the 5800X3D did with the next gen of GPUs. As some games become less GPU limited at 1080p and 1440p the CPU should become more important.

For certain types of game I can see it being faster than zen4.

In these games where x3d is making the game run 70% faster there is like 0.0% chance Zen4 can match it IF Zen4 does not also have x3d cache

you can't IPC or clock speed yourself 70% more performance in a single generation it just doesn't happen

I got a nice boost in BF2042 with higher fps maxes staying near my monitors max refresh of 144 and mins staying around 110 instead of in the 80s with a 6900xt at 1440p

That's a good increase. As a 7700XT is expected to have 6900XT power I can see it being more beneficial with the next gen of GPUs.

Over on AT, I saw someone post the Civ VI benches from the AT Broadwell in 2020 recap:

Those Broadwell with their huge 128MB L4 are probably the closest thing to the 5800X3D.
They were expensive enough to make that they were a limited run too. (Although somewhat ironically certain mobile SKUs did have similar. So the old adage that all laptops are slow - which the long history of i3/i5/i7s being the same die implied - was not always true for certain loads.)
Eventually AT have promised they will review 5800X3D so hopefully that test will be in there too.
