OcUK RX5800X3D review thread

Maybe not for this thread but now AMD have integrated this large CPU cache will it be deployed on 'APU's' aka will we eventually see some Heterogeneous stuff HUMA. And what about GPU's shared access etc.? Is that the goal? It's been AMD dream for years IMHO.

In these games where x3d is making the game run 70% faster there is like 0.0% chance Zen4 can match it IF Zen4 does not also have x3d cache

you can't IPC or clock speed yourself 70% more performance in a single generation it just doesn't happen
It is possible (AM3 to AM4), and Zen 4 will be AM5, so completely new platform on much better node, even I/O die will be on TSMC node unlike Zen 3 which use gloflo node which is kinda bottleneck. AMD also announced very good OC of ddr5 memory which isn't surprise because they use TSMC node.

They already did it once, many years ago, it was ahead of its time, maybe now is the time.

I think you're right. Everything is lining up nicely and AMD has a bigger voice now. Think that I have still got a couple of A10's in a cupboard :) how times have changed.

AMD have so much advanced technology now Intel's head is spinning looking at it.

Intel created X86 and we have them along with IBM to thank for PC's, but since then its been AMD driving innovation, before Zen, X64, the world first X86 multi-core processor, hUMA, HSA and many other less significant things. Now its 2.5D chiplets stacking and 3D stacking on X86.

I'm an old enthusiast at this point and i remember AMD relentlessly pushing out innovation after innovation, they never sit on their hands, there's work to be done. Its good to see AMD back.

I agree. AMD team are top-notch and Lisa has more qualifications than you can shake a stick at. Even the recent acquisitions are very forward-thinking.
Interesting times.

She came from IBM, who its rumoured they tried to buy her back at one point, AMD's BoD gave her a massive bonus, the biggest in the industry at the time, it was bigger than Intel's CEO bonus and Nvidia's.
On that note you know who else comes from AMD? Jensen Whang, Nvidia's CEO, he was there when AMD where inventing 64Bit and multi-core processors.

Ah, I thought you might be a bit more excited as it's Linux.

Might have been with a better selection of games, why test a 2d game  Is a 2d game normally known for taxing a CPU ?

Why not test something like MadMax/warthunder or along those lines or beter still the Metro series which all are native on linux would have been a far better test to me .

Sorry, rant over :o

Just for the comedy value I thought I'd see what Userbenchmark had to say:

"Some specific cache sensitive scenarios such as canned game benchmarks with a 3090-Ti will benefit. Be wary of sponsored reviews with cherry picked games that showcase the wins and ignore the losses. Also watch out for AMD’s army of Neanderthal social media accounts on reddit, forums and youtube, they will be singing their own praises as usual. AMD’s marketers continue to show more interest in this year’s bonuses than the longevity of the brand. Instead of focusing on real-world performance, they attempt to dupe consumers with benchmark busting headlines."

:cry::cry::cry:

It is like Dave2150 wrote it, LOL. Even Intel boys don't take this site seriosly, it should be deleted.

Well when your main income is paid for by AMD's main competitor then they need to be aggressive in their justifications for the dross they publish, otherwise they'd make no money. It's such a shame really, as an actual impartial database of scores from across that many systems would be a great resource for novices, and experienced folk alike, sadly it can't be saved no and just needs to be ignored or closed down.

Also I find it amazing that Lisa and Jensen are related

Clever fam

Nvidia founder Huang Renxun (Jensen Huang) came from Tainan, and has a relative relationship with Su Zifeng (Lisa Su). Su Zifeng's grandfather and Huang Renxun's mother are brothers and sisters Technically, Lisa Su's grandfather is Jen-Hsun Huang's uncle. They are not exactly niece and uncle, but close relatives.

I knew there was a relationship there but did know what exactly it was, that's interesting to know thanks.
