OcUK Ryzen 9 3950X review thread

AMD messed up badly with the stock on the top cpus, which is a big shame because they would have sold a lot more if they did have stock.

The 3900x up to now was nowhere to be found, and only now the prices on that started to go down a bit still way higher than RRP.

The 3950x hasn't even started pre orders and already has seen a price bigger than RRP, I am starting to have doubts if i ever will be able to build my new pc. A bit more waiting and Zen 3 will be announced...

I did warn you guys. I said this is a binned CPU and stock will be low. So retailers will mark up the prices.
To be honest £50 is not bad, I was expecting an increase of £100

Unfortunately Apple is TSMC's priority customer and those A13 chips have eaten up all the spare 7nm supply TSMC had. AMD is left with the scraps and then they have to try and take binned samples from the scraps to make high end chips.

Now imagine how little stock there will be of threadripper 3000 :)

This is going to be AMD's biggest issue. They have a better product than Intel, but they can't actually get enough of it into the hands of the customer - so the customer will just go to Intel who can supply them.

I have posted on UK prices for the 3900x before and i'll say the same thing again in relation to the 3950x, there is no need for any of us to be gouged by greedy UK retailers.......................................just buy it from any of the German retailers that more than likely will sell at RRP.

This chip is something that is so far ahead of its time there's no graphics cards that provide enough power to challenge it.

You are right and wrong. Wrong because This cpu will easily bottleneck a 2080ti at 1080p in current games. Right, but your theory only holds true if developer are effectively using all 32 threads and using DX12 api to remove cpu bottleneck

.
If you're under the impression that £50 will be the only price bump from OcUK for the 3950X then I suspect you're in for a bit of a surprise. ;)
