OCUK Safe Space

You don't need a safe space as you can just choose to click away and not reply to it and get on with your day.
It's the entitlement of some on here that seems to cause it, more so in SC. If you don't post a link properly and sneeze the wrong way, have the wrong grammar etc, they pounce on it
SC it a one sided pat each other on the back kind of place and the most toxic sub forum on here I would say.
If this place were like FB and we knew what each other looked like and knew a little snippet about each others lives people would be less bold and brazen though.
When people can have a 3-4 argument over a comma you know people need to get out more.

Don't need a safe space, just needs good moderation.

I'll be honest and say that I know what I'm getting into when I post in GD. Normally I get negative/non-supportive responses lol. (So I don't bother posting that much in here when I want another adults respectful opinion.)

I don't think GD is that negative. It's across the board. If you want negative, and I mean proper Harry Potter "Dementor" type negativity, then look no further than Mumsnet in the AIBU section. You will lose your mind (and your soul!)

I think the moderation in this place is pretty good nowadays. It's definitely a lot fairer than it used to be. Several years ago it was way too restrictive and harsh, and plenty of people got banned who shouldn't have been banned, resulting in an off-shoot forum [maybe more than one] for people to purely moan about OCUK, as sad as that is, but it does show the level of anger that the moderation here caused.

The word filter list on here is a bit bizarre e.g. "FTW" used to be a banned word, and other non-swearies are on the current filter list, but other than that I agree with you. Very balanced moderation all round, and there's the sub section where you can query stuff with the Dons, similar to the Customer Support section.

How do you know they are trolling?

It's usually quite obvious, someone taking the Michael out of a topic, but it can be subtle as well sometimes. People posting on the sly. Trolling is generally to get a reaction out of other people.

Most of the time it's not trolling though, it just the other person reading it not being able to grasp that other people could have an opposing opinion.
The only way their brain can think it through is that they must be trolling ;)
