OCUK Sandy Bridge, SB-E and Ivy Bridge 5GHZ Club

Ah and so another is lost. :D :D

Welcome to the clan the latest victim of bencheritis. The only fix is to keep on doing. Try some 32mil Super Pi and then WPrime 1024. That will be an eye opener for you.

Thanks again 1Day, i owe a lot to the UD7 best mobo i have ever owned. i think i have a ocd i want to try and get 5th with 5.5:D any tip or tweaks i could try as all i changed in the bios was LLC to level 2, upped the volts and changed the blc from 1000 to 1002 to round mhz up.;)

What BIOS are you using?

For max overclock on the UD7 I found that lowering PLL and upping Vtt a notch helped - not too much just a little. The trick is finding the right balance between the two. Bare in mind your IMC is fragile so the more you stress it and push voltage into the IMC circuits the less likely you are of getting a higher core frequency.

If your CPU will allow it up your BCLK in small steps at a time. It is a good idea to use the ET6 in OS to find the max BCLK - but bare in mind when it crashes you will need to reset the BIOS as what you set in ET6 is set in bios. :) can be a pain but if it works then it is a bonus. Problem is we get greedy of course and we want more and more and more....

Now for some CPU's the max multi does not mean that is the max frequency. You might have a max multi of 55 but your BCLK will allow you to get right up to 5.8GHz if you use a 54 multi for example. You just have to try and work out what suits your CPU.

One thing about the UD7 once you have run a frequency in OS at say 5.562 then you will be able to boot into that frequency. Even if before you could not boot into OS at that frequency. Once done you can do it again thing.

And if you want tips for benching Super PI then you will need to enable your trust.

happy days

You do mate. You do.

The UD7 is a motherboard that stands back for none. If you want to try for the max overclock use F8X bios. It is not the best for efficiency but certainly the best for raw MHz. Best for efficiency is F7e (and I am talking B2 boards not the B3 new boards)

hi 1 Day i agree about the mobo, i was thinking on the lines of the nitro root lol. i have the B3 board, saying that if i achieved 6ghz id want 6.1 suppose that's the way it is:). just waiting for Simon to update score for 5th, will settle for 5th and wait for 6th counter attack.

I wish I could afford to join this club :(

CPU speed/reliability while overclocked has improved ten-fold since when I started overclocking the old Socket A Athlon's lol

Reliability for me that is... I'm sure someone out there had a 1ghz Athlon running at 20ghz or something daft lol

soultaker with SB you can do it ghetto style too. A water block for the CPU. Any water pump, a huge bucket a few kilos of ice, packet of salt and you have some serious ice water and that will be enough. My first 5.7 was done on normal water, not sure you knew that. Yeah I bench with a Single Stage on my SB but initially and the first runs I did were all done on water.

Or use a normal Intel cooler take the fan off and stick a chunk of dryice on top of the cooler. -50'c not a problem.

Point I am making is there are ways.

Now to your user-name. Is it taken from the group Blutengle, they have a CD with the same name (title)?

1 Day that's impressive and a very easy way of doing it, i always thought it was hard and expensive thanks for the heads up, user name was just a name when i 1st played counter strike lol. might change it now to ice maker.

Wow, very nice soultaker, can't beat a gigabyte mobo got the x58-ud5 its solid at 4.473GHz at the mom > SPI > 9.210secs, lol and your sub 7secs amazing. :D

Thanks OLDPHART, I'm well pleased, especially being a bit of a noob at the overclocking stuff, had a far bit of help, info and tips from 1 Day and others, so all is good.... 6.1ghz will have to wait a while tho. :D
