*** Oculus Quest 2 Owners Thread ***

I've never really had a problem with the standard one, apart from getting a bit sweaty at times, though I probably play for much shorter periods than a lot of people. I'll happily take the silicon one to try though.

Also I don't get the earphones, I like that you don't have anything on your ears but the quality, can the quality and loudness be increased, other than the toggle button on the headset?

I'm probably in the minority here but I really like the built in headphones. I realise the sound quality isn't amazing, but I find it good enough and its a decent trade off against having to have something in my ears.

I bought a silicone cover for my Quest 1 and didn't like it. The main problem was it lost all grip when sweaty, so the headset would slide off the lens sweet spot.

I'll stick with my comfy VR cover pleather facial interface for the Quest 2.

I agree that the Quest 2 sound is surprisingly decent. It's much better than Quest 1, and I prefer the feeling of not having headphones on my ears. The only issue is that the sound is very 'leaky' so I have to wear headphones if my wife is around when playing.

Oculus are sending out replacement covers for the quest 2 facial interface foam. You can request yours by following the steps here.

It's shocking how many on here reckon the Quest 2 sounds is acceptable . I found it no good for any immersive gaming. Had to use earphones.

Yes , Oculus have halted sales of the Quest 2 due to face covering issue and are putting the replacement in with sales of new Quest 2s and upgrading the 64GB versions to 128GB for free.
No doubt , people have maybe talked about sueing them over this , hence the sudden U-turns.

Oculus Facebook, learn from this and, don't cheap out! Your a multi billion dollar company!

I've personally not had any skin issues with the quest 2 foam. I would say though it feels much cheaper and isn't as comfortable as the foam in my original quest though.

I'm not sure if the replacement is actually a new piece of foam or just a silicon cover for the existing one? From what I've read so far it's possibly just a cover.

They were offering full replacements with the VR cover pleather facial interfaces, but only to those that requested them. Now it looks like they're doing the silicon covers to everyone.

Think it is a new Silicon piece, sometimes it even leaves a red imprint on the face, some kids would suffer that more.

Yah, they plan to start up sales again on August 24th with a new 128GB entry level model that includes a new face silicon interface.

I reckon that's good , feel sorry for all that went and bought the 64GB versions ( last 2 weeks) as that will be discontinued and loose a lot of value, come resale.

Help, to do what? I have not requested any help. I'm doing the helping.

Listen, So my advice is that if you're looking to buy a Quest 2, it makes sense to wait until the 24th August and get the 128GB version for the same price as the 64GB version.

You can also just buy the 256GB instead.

Don't feel sorry for me. I've had nearly a year of fun out of my headset, that's worth what'll be perhaps a £40 loss in resale value. Depending on what the quest 3 has, and it's price, it may not even lose that much resale value, and I have no plans of selling before there's a significantly improved headset on the market.

Yep. And if they're following this stuff, they'll quite possibly return it and wait for the new one. If not, they'll have a load of fun with it anyway. Don't think 128gb would help me too much at the moment regardless, since I'm a long way from filling 64gb.

Hello all,

I found this thread on Google, and it seems there's a lot of knowledgeable people here regarding the Quest2 and Oculus! If you guys let me, I would like to ask some questions that has been bugging me for a looong time, and I never found a good resource to really understand how this all works.

I have been mostly using my Q2 using USB Cable via Oculus Link. No problem there. So, let's do an example.

I'm running a light game, such as The Room VR, no problem, my RTX3080Ti runs that fine, 1.5 Native Res 90Hz. Performance Headroom 40/50%

Now, i go to another game, such as Flight Simulator 2020. That thing is VR kryptonite! It's impossible to achieve 120Hz, 90Hz, or 72Hz. Before I ask what should I do in this sitation, I would like to understand what is happening in the Quest2 when the Fps is below, for example, 90Fps in a 90Hz setting.

- Does it Stutter like a regular LCD would, if not running 30 or 60fps on a 60Hz Screen?
- Will ASW activate? What does it do? And what if I turn it off, like I have seen some Guides suggesting, what happens then?

How can we deal with this situation, where it's impossible to achieve Fps close to the Hz of the screen? I never found anywhere explaining that to me :/

Hope someone can take his time to help me understand

Thank you very much!

Hi Welcome!

For the Quest 2 and PC VR, the Oculus software will suggest settings for your headset at 72Hz, 90Hz or 120Hz ( experimental). The higher the Hz the lower the resolution, that's how the software will adjust your device settings for your hardware. Stick to the recommended setting. 72Hz is what is recommended as VR does need a high end PC for intense graphics in some games like MSFS.

When you set your PC to 90Hz and then it started dropping below 90Hz, this means your hardware is not able to run 90Hz for that game and you might start seeing slowdowns or stutters. The best way to resolve this would be to lower the headset resolution, Hz and also turn down the , in game settings like Texture, AA etc.

I know that msfs is really hard on gpus. First solution is lower your settings.

I have asw on for my link connection and when I've played with star wars squadrons and been close to the limit depending on what's around. With a frame rate measure on and aiming for 90hz, I'd see the frame rate sitting at 90 for most of it, and dropping to 45fps when it all got a bit much ( gpu usage also dropped from max at those points). However without looking too closely i couldn't tell the difference in game. It was reprojecting 90hz ( movement was still smooth).

First proper play through in months, convinced this is why my weight loss has stopped. An hour of BS, Pistol Whip and Audio Trip - soaked and it was so much fun.

Don't cheap out? I'm not really into defending Facebook, but I think what they launched at this price point was pretty damn good, there were clearly some small compromises to get it down to this price, but overall they did a fantastic job.
