*** Oculus Quest 2 Owners Thread ***

I do love the "I'm making one last post" and "You're not worth my time" posts. They always strike as oxymoronic.

Been playing a ton of real vr fishing, especially now as they've introduced epic fish. Started fishing on expert difficulty (not too bad). Just can't seem to get the Mako Shark right, gets off my line very quickly.

I use q2 and link (official cable) with Alyx and no stutters at all and that’s at 90hz x1.7 render and ultra settings on Alyx

Hmm not using official cable (Always a dodgy idea I know but ££££) Very odd and annoying as system more than capable. Will try one more cable before maybe forking out for one!

Anyone tried MSfiight sim VR update yet? If you have issues with a rectangular box in the lens when you switch to VR mode you need to go into oculus debug tool and turn off POV target box from auto to off. Other than that I’m pretty happy with how it looks although without in game render resolution set to 100 some of the disks are hard to see. Got it set at 80hz and 1.3 render sampling.

Quest 2 owners thread has non Quest 2 owners telling people VR is a bad thing...maybe this is the wrong thread for that user?

Back OT Squadrons is a steal @ £10.99 after discount, already have it on PSVR but gotta try it wireless.

Also, can't wait for the next Oculus sale to pick up a few more Quest games...come on get the bargains up already!

Not sure who you are talking about as no one recently has said VR is a bad thing?

Are there any other games similar and as a good as Space Pirate Trainer? I am not keen on the fake teleporting style movement as I find it breaks immersion. So I am looking for Arena style games like Space Pirate Trainer.

Have only played 5 minutes but seems to run well my V56 on medium or high I believe (with a 3700X).

Left it at what is recommended. Feels fine, little laggy when using the glove.

But holy crap, what an experience. That is VR! We need more of this please. I wish I had 400ft room just to walk around more, but even with 'stationary boundary" it's pretty special.

I purchased a quest 2 a couple of weeks ago and love it. I purchased a third party link cable and it works and recognises the setup as usb3 on the Oculus app.
So far I’ve got Half Life Alyx, Pavlov ,Onward, VTOL and as of yesterday Star Wars Squadrons.
Looking for best advice on setup. I have a 3070 nvidia card and an i5 8400 6core cpu with 16gb ram.
I’ve done the developer mode and trying to go through the settings in the debug tool.
which settings are best for clarity as I find it a little blurry - in particular Onward.
I also find that star wars stutters a fair bit.
Also, normal games via vorpx or the virtual desktop (non paid for one) don’t run great.

Any advice on what I should be setting these values to?
Any help much appreciated.
I also only got my 3070 the other day (latest drivers) having came from a vega 64.

Settings vary a lot by game but il give you some recommendations as my 2080ti is almost identical to a 3070 apart from higher vram. Rest of my setup is ryzen 3900x and 32gb ram and M.2 hdd.

squadrons I run the following

occulus PC app 80hz @ 1.5 render resolution
Oculus debug tool set the bitrate anywhere from 300-350
Set all in game settings to ultra under the VR graphics sub options and make sure render resolution is set to 100.
After this go into the games normal graphics (non-vr settings) and set all of this to the lowest settings and set the output resolution to the monitor to lowest setting. You don’t want to have the computer trying to run good graphics on the monitor when you can’t even see it.

you can try running at 90hz and 1.7 sampling I. The oculus app but you might struggle with stutter a bit but it’s worth a try.

You are a star Adam, I will test this out later and report back. Thanks ever so much for that!
How do you find games on vorpx and such? It’s no biggie really as the VR games I have are enough but I just quite fancied Fifa21 via vorpx or virtual desktop kinda simulating sat in front of a cinema screen. When I tried it it looked like lower than 1080p and very jittery and sluggish.
