It's funny, I haven't found the weight or comfort (bar one caveat) much of a factor at all, but this as always comes down to the individual. There's been plenty of times people report no comfort issues with headphones (for example), yet when I try them, I find them awkward etc. Just different variety of head shapes, so there'll never be a clear consensus unless there's an outright flaw in design, which doesn't appear to be a complaint that can be levelled at the Quest.
The head strap might cause some to have a problem and perhaps a halo-type would be more accommodating, but personally, I find it fine, but I see how it could be an issue as it's vital to get the curved support under the bump of the skull as this is key to properly supporting the weight off the front of the head.
Overall I find it more comfortable to put on than the Vive, but the most important fact is that I think it's going to be a '30min device', quick and easy to take on and off, which means extended use is probably going to be unlikely.
Caveat I mentioned above is that I'm not sure it's perfect for eyeglass wearers. Yes, they provide a spacer, but there's just too small a margin with the type of glasses I wear to risk possible lens damage. Dedicated lenses might be the way to go, but that's always usually been the case long term with VR IMO.
Regarding the SDE...it's not bad, but the jump in resolution probably might suggest that people expect it to be better etc. Plus the fact that we're more or less 3 years down the line now with proper consumer VR might be clouding things, and that we think it should be much improved, but we are talking about a standalone device with some understandable limitations, so that has to be taken into account. FWIW, I think it probably shades the Vive in this regard, but I'd have to compare with same titles.
It's part of the reason, I gave the current round of PC solutions a miss, and holding off to see how the Cosmos measures up, rather than go with a Vive Pro or new Rift, as there's just not enough general improvement to be seen. At least the Quest has something to offer given it's standalone nature, so it's a curiousity in that regard.
