Oculus Quest (Santa Cruz)

In-Death just released, and it's great! It nails the classic In-Death PC gameplay. There are some compromises - blurrier graphics, shorter draw distance, slightly fewer enemies on-screen but overall it's an excellent port, and improves on the PC version in a number of ways.

Done and done, completely forgot about this one!

Just bought Coaster Combat with my Oculus free £8 credit and wow what a game. Sooo much fun and a corker for people not used to VR as a few of the levels are easy on the stomach :)

I've got that on the Go. Not a bad game to introduce people to VR. The camera rotation isn't linked to the coaster, so it avoids the motion sickness you normally get with VR coaster sims.

There's a weird button like thing between the lenses with the number 2 visible...

People are speculating it maybe some sort of IPD adjustment after all, but it strikes me as weird place to have it given you can't adjust it while on your head with it there meaning if you don't know your IPD you'd have to keep putting it on and taking off to find the right setting.

I suppose if there are only a few settings rather than a slider it's less of an issue but still seems odd. I can't think what else it might be though, unless maybe a forward/back adjustment for glasses wearers (ie set 1 if no glasses, set 2 if glasses).

Interesting none the less!

It does look like there's either lens distance adjustment (for glasses or eye relief) or maybe a two or three position IPD adjust on the new Quest. I can see why they'd want to simplify the IPD adjust. I find on both the Quest and the Index it sometimes moves on its own if you move the headset too quickly or accidentally knock it. A switch type which locks at certain positions would definitely help.

My halo strap came today all the way from China. Its pretty good, will be much easier to adjust if swapping between multiple people regularly, but first impressions are its not as secure on the head as the original strap. Need to give it a chance for a few days.

I think some people found this with the Rift S halo strap too. Much more comfortable, but tends to wobble when you move around.

Yes I think the issue is the elasticated part of the original strap - it clamps the front to your face more but in a comfortable way. The halo strap doesn't have this element.

I how the leaked Quest 2 is available in Black, white electronics get dirty so easily..

anyway I can’t wait for Onward on the Quest! I’ve grown to hate my Oculus Rifts Cable and I’ve played very little VR over the last 12 months... wireless VR is the best VR!

I'm still addicted to In-Death but will pick up Onward at some point. The quality of these recent ports is incredible considering the Quest is basically an overclocked phone.

Does anyone know the name of the application you can get to test your VR screen? Ive seen some screenshots of (trying to describe this best I can) where its got for example an eye test chart in it, various lines on the floor to test FOV etc.
