Oculus Rift

Best to filter on VR support in Steam to get an idea.

If it supports dirt rally then count me in! I've spent a fortune lately. New gsync monitor, 980ti, G920 steering wheel..might as well finish it off in style with the rift! :D it's my birthday in March so that will offset some of the cost for me. :)

I'm seriously tempted to grab one of these! Is there an official list of support games?

There are supported games, but those that werent made for VR can be a bit workaround.

Google Oculus Share for homemade apps, reddit has a list of stuff that works natively, there is also a paid for app that lets you run a long list of games that werent made for VR but I cant remember the name right now - im sure someone will!

Finally Fortune did a spread on the top 10 VR games for 2016.

Can't you just swap the graphics card out under the cover of darkness? I may definitely haven't done this before ;)

Haha, familiar!

Wife: Why are you putting a PC together? Have you bought a new one?
Husband: No dear, just.... umm, cleaning the old one.
Wife: But it's twice the size?
Husband: Errr, no, you're just closer to it than usual.
Wife: And a different colour.
Husband: You're just not used to seeing it with the curtains open....
Wife: And I can see the old one in the corner.
Husband: Yyyyyup... oh look, that cloud looks just like a cat!

I almost didn't get married for something like this, but 1.5k worth of car parts.

My i5 3570k handles the dk2 fine, but the min specs for the CV1 are higher. Going to have to see if ill upgrade it - my gpu is fine, 970, but maybe its time to up the cpu power.

I'll be interested to hear what it's like on a 3570k since I've the same. I definately need to upgrade my gpu, but I'm going to wait until I know if I need to upgrade the entire lot.

And then basically trust to luck that it will work. atm there a fair few of these games which certainly dont work with the dk2 but *should* work with the CV1....in any case Oculus and devs will be busy with patches you can bet on that.

For me there isnt a VR game out that is absolutely must have. Some great demos yes but thats all. A lot of the VR optimized stuff on steam is half-arsed and doesnt work properly but hopefully with the consumer rift release that will all be sorted as soon as.

If the CV1 is under £370 i'll get it...

I really hope I won't have to upgrade my CPU, I got this 3570 for £120 so it wasn't too bad, but maybe the K would have been better if I wasn't a puss about OCing..

ED has stated you need a 980Ti minimum to run consumer VR

where did they say that? Was it in a different thread to this one?

Greetings Commanders,

Many of you have been asking about the minimum system requirements for VR in Elite Dangerous, including Horizons, so here they are:

• OS: Windows 7/8/10 64 bit
• Processor: Intel Core i7-3770K Quad Core CPU or better / AMD FX 4350 Quad Core CPU or better
• Memory: 16 GB RAM
• Graphics: Nvidia GTX 980 with 4GB or better
• Network: Broadband Internet Connection
• Hard Drive: 8 GB available space

Multi-GPU of any variant isn't very well supported at the moment. From what I've read online, it works ok for some people and not others.

Is this something thats been confirmed by the Oculus rift development team or is this going on what users of the DK1 and DK2 have said?

Seems to be experience based, there seems to be talk of at some point doing SLI/CF differently for VR, 1 GPU per eye rather than interleaving.
