Oculus Rift

It's annoying how I have an order, then i registered an account after. But now i have a account but i cant check my order status as its separate.

I've contacted support and asked if they can merge it...

I had left my order window open and did try again later but I'm sure my date was May, from the original March, when I finished the checkout :(

Checking my order status it doesn't say when it might ship so I expect May then. Still give Assetto Corsa/iRacing etc. a chance to catch up. FlyInside for P3D with the DK2 will keep me satisfied until then (I hope)

I bought mine 1hr 15 mins after the pre-orders went live (5:15pm). I get mine in May! personally I think they are creating the illusion of limited supply to drive sales. I bet we all get them on launch in march. I bet they claim they increased production or something to that effect.

I expect a bit of a shift in shipping times, I'm still hopeful of mine going from April to March, but I don't think they are falsely creating the illusion of constraint.

The thing they have going for them is a long period between preorders starting and the first shipments. Plenty of time to make additional units and catch up with demand.

Seems like your order number might let you know when its due to ship. My order number was in the 26 batch so a good chance its in March. Now to see what price the HTC Vive comes in at, hopefully it comes with the new headunit camera etc as well.

Why wouldn't it?

Ah sorry I meant the new headunit camera. Not sure if that was going to make it into the first retail product or not! That new tech looks pretty good and could open a lot more possibilities for devs :)

Probably adds an additional £30 to the price though :p

So, not really followed VR yet but will there actually be any games to play on it yet? Do the games need to be written for VR or will it work with anything?

Yes, there are loads. Just google Oculus Rift games.

roadtovr.com was one of the sites I think. I had about 25 free games / demos for my DK2 and quite a few mods for games that worked very well - Quake spasm for Quake was a very good one (no nausea)

Yeah, the front camera along with room-scale lighthouse and touch controls out of the box are the Vives USPs.

HTC Vive
HTC Vive Pre (with the camera).

There are two products that HTC have talked about....whether the Vive Pre *is* the consumer iteration of the Vive, or a separate product isn't clear to me.

They are just names, ultimately there will only be one model.

HTC Vive Pre just means "pre-production"

Of course the final consumer version will have the front camera, as that is what they have announced at CES.

I've been told gearvr is a waste of time, that and it only works with samsung phones :p

You've heard incorrectly. Nearly everyone says it's the next best thing and very good. Yes it does only work with Samsung phones, the clue is in the name.
