Oculus Rift

Well, my order has disappeared somewhere... No longer able to find it, and the website says no orders are showing for my email address. Bit disconcerting. I've opened a ticket with their support, see what happens!

Having decided to wait and see what the opposition brings out my 'cheap' temporary alternative has arrived:

I have a feeling that this will make many people feel sick as does not have positional tracking. When the tracking was off on my Rift DK2 it was not nce at all. In the video, skip to 2 min 50 in and notice when he moves his head the temple run icon also moves around. Even things like that made me feel sick

He also has to keep it held against his head when wearing it like the phone is going to drop out :o

Hope it wasnt too expensive and hope that the phone dropping problem has been sorted

It is good you can take it everywhere with you though :)

edit - for $99 it seems pretty good and looks well made for that price. It also has quite a few good reviews already (though I expect they have not used Oculus Rift DK2) http://www.amazon.com/dp/B016OFYGXQ

As reviews say basically, one for the standard consumer market at a glimpse into what VR has to offer. A good idea really from Oculus, make people want more :)

If you have your order number try this if you bought as a guest.

Try this link.... it will send you a confirmation email with a link to your order

https://shop.oculus.com/en-us/history-login/

Key in your order number and email address might work or u may get a something went wrong

I had been doing that, but was getting a fault, as I've checked it a few times. It appears to be back working now anyway, so maybe just a blip in their system, thankfully lol.

32XXXX for me so could be lucky and get March or April or very unlucky and get June.

The annoying thing was I was trying to buy it when it first went on sale but the page was DDoS'd / down then payment wouldnt work

For anyone still having issues with there order, someone in Reddit asked and Oculus Support responded -

* Prices show "--" or nothing: This was due to the crush of initial traffic where we were unable to compute taxes on the fly. If it was unable to compute, it couldn't calculate final price. This is being fixed today and your order history will display correctly by tomorrow.
* No confirmation email: We are looking into this one. Again, we think this is due to the initial crush of traffic. We'll try to figure that one out today.
* Not being able to successfully enter Order History: If you went through the "logged-in" flow with your Oculus ID, and you go through the "order number/email" flow, this error is being thrown. We are working on fixing this or directing Guest purchases and Oculus ID purchase to the correct location more intelligently. If you used your Oculus ID, please use the left side (login) of the order history page https://shop.oculus.com/history.
* No PayPal/Credit Card info on payment: I guess I need more clarity on this one. We don't actually charge anything at preorder time. You will receive a formal invoice/receipt once we are preparing to ship your Rift and we've "captured" payment. Right now, we're only "authorizing" and then "voiding" $0 or $1 depending on which payment processor is being used. "Authorizing" does not actually take money. It's a temporary hold to verify the payment instrument.
* No confirmation if signed up for Oculus Touch: The default is to be opted in, and we're working to make this a bit more clear to people. There was a minor hiccup we ran into during the crush in the beginning, but no one should be worried about this. You'll be fine. :)
I hope that helps. I'll keep everyone updated as we make progress on some of the outstanding items. Thanks!

How come the Steam VR and HTC VR have their own names, are they two different headsets or the same VR headset with just two different names? Sorry for stupid question lol.

Also to contribute to this thread, I found this really good thread on Redit today where the guy that invented Oculus Rift answers loads of questions, and he genuinely answers lots of questions, he has a big post at the top and then if you scroll down you can see it keeps answering peoples questions.

Valve(Steam) and HTC are working together on the Vive - they are one and the same. There are other players out there besides Oculus and HTC/Valve but these two are the main players with both stated to be launching on PC this year.

Looking forward to my April (30) order. Will be keeping an eye on Vive and PSVR too. Who knows, might own all of them down the track!

Don't think it's worth cancelling just yet, keep it open, and if the reviews turn out to be poor, then cancel. You're not being charged for a preorder, so I see no reason to cancel yet.

HTC VR could be considered the "hardware" as in the Vive, Steam VR is the platform, the software. While they are different companies HTC are essentially doing what Valve tell them to do using plans Valve influenced heavily to get the ball rolling in such a short time.
