Oculus Rift

As for the usb issue...the only reason it requires all the USB 3 ports is for power, USB 3 has to provide more power than 2.0 as standard so this isnt really a bandwidth thing just a way of getting rid of cris crossing mains adapters which tbh i think is a huge deal

Not sure this is true as the system tester doesn't seem to like the non Intel USB 3.0 sockets and the only difference is sustained data rates

Devkit 2 runs on usb 2 and usb 3 is ~ 10 times as fast, I can't believe the difference in data rates between dk 2 and cv1 is a factor of 10. Unless the ASmedia ports fall far far short of the specification I think the problem has to be something other than sustained data rates.

The system tester just flags up non native ports, those running off a 3rd party chip, because that's the safest way to test. To be clear my system failed the test on cpu which is a watercooled i7 that will 100% work fine on the rift.

The system tester is very basic and you are vastly overestimating the detail it is looking into your system.

They will only risk saying "rift ready" in ideal circumstances. And variable quality 3rd party chips are not a safe bet. Period

I bought the Bundle stars Born 2 Race bundle last week. About 10 games for £1.89 (worth £64). What shocked me was some of the titles had Oculus Rift support actually in the setup menus and these were games that were current RRP cost less than a tenner ! So there are more games out there than you think !

eg Riptide GP2

Yeah theres plenty of games already beta supported that people don't know about, and even more that can be modded to use OR.

I gave skyrim a try in DK2 and while its nails to play using it, the visuals are ****ing brilliant. Those massive high mountains actually look massive when you're craning your neck so see the summit!

Riptide GP2 doesn't have an actual VR mode. The VR Challenge mode in it's menu is just the name given to the offline time attack mode to compete against your friends times.

Bloody hell. 3?!?!? Why the hell 3 USB ports???
(I must be missing something here.).

I'm just wondering the same. There's 2 x USB 3.0 on the backplate of my MBoard, but I'll need to add more using the 'USB 3.0 connector (20-1 pin USB3_12)' that's in the middle of the Board.

That's just for the Rift. What does the Vive require?

Three unused USB 3.0 ports and one unused 2.0 port are recommended.

1x 3.0 USB port for the headset
1x 3.0 USB port for the 3D Positional Tracker
1x 3.0 USB port for Oculus Touch (available at a later date)
1x 2.0 USB port for Xbox wireless controller

So out of the box it's actually 2 x USB 3.0 and 1 x USB 2.0 which any standard controller would be using anyway.

Not exactly extravagant.

I bought the Inateck 4 port USB 3.0 pci controller card from the rain forest.

I got this error in the event viewer when i installed it.

The ports seem to read USB thumb drives ok...

Anything to worry about?

Only appears on installing the card, or disabling and reenabling, so have two entries in there now. Not when using the machine...

Is it the powered one? I bought the Inateck powered one, installed it into the tiny PCI slot, attatched a 4 pin molex and all working fine with no issues.

Anyone played Valkyrie yet? I've had a few goes in Alpha and it's great but very different to elite. Very smooth on my 970 though, if all AAA titles play like this I'll be very happy.

Interesting. Saw your review on Amazon.

It all works fine. Or appears to. Just this event appeared in the log on first boot with it plugged in. Can you check your event log?

Other than USB pen drive what other good tests are there?
