Oculus Rift

I have a rift on preorder. Tbh I thought I'd just get it and have a go of it. If its all working no floors I'd sell it at RRP as QA passed. Anything wrong and I'll just return it.

Vive for me now I've seen what it can do.

From the looks of the way they're being distributed among the early pre-orders it didn't matter if you had a high or low transaction number they're deciding it some other way. For example, I have a 25XX number and some people before and after me have confirmation while some don't. :(

The Wii board is pretty small to be sticking a rail around it, it would feel and look very odd.

Also with such a small base it would end up being extremely top heavy if you did lean too far.

The world is just asking for a Segway sim; grab your broom and stand on the brush bit and hold the handle. Perfect..

Obviously different comtries are going to have different distribution centers and those centers will have different amounts of stock. I ordered with the first few minutes and have a 26 order number, i got my "check your address and payment details" email at 1am

I was blown away by the dk2 but was only good for test purposes / a gadget really with the exception of a couple of games. The resoolution was simply not good enough and it was too hot and heavy.
Even if I dont get on with the CV1 ill just sell it on for retail price. I had my dk2 for 5 or 6 months and sold it for slightly more than i paid direct from oculus (to cover postage) no loss and a great test gadget for 6 months = win win

Mine was xxx32xxx I think.

Might.come sooner than I thought with the number of peeps cancelling.

I'm on holds last week of may so hope it and vive comes before then.

Is that Fibonacci spiral on that desk or just a elaborate scratch?

Just watched the video on facebook. Was so cringe! I couldn't continue watching... The guy taking delivery was not excited at all and looked annoyed at the video being taken. It also looked setup like he was asked if he could be filmed and was left no choice. Urgh.

I also can't trust Palmer Luckey... he seems sooo... fake.

yeah. it was awful. rammed it on with his glasses too...probably scratched the screens too.

I wonder if he really was the first?

I felt like they should have given him some coaching. And why was it at his office on a weekend?

Guess he does get stuff delivered there normally, and when asked if he would be filmed didnt bother saying well actually I don't live there.

Surely they would have wanted to film it being plugged in and set up....right?

Surprised they released the video... I expect it to be staged a little more and a little better.

Ugh, secondhand embarrassment made that video really hard to watch!

It seemed painfully clear to me that the guy didn't care in the slightest about VR and probably only ordered his Rift to sell it for a profit on the bay. Guess that would explain why he looked less than thrilled about being filmed receiving it and being forced to take it out of the box.

...sorry to say, it's real in terms of the guy knew it was happening.

Listen at 1:41, the chap who has just been given it says "I can't believe you made it"...

...that is not the phrase you would use if somebody just turned up like that - perhaps he just didn't expect to be filmed - but he certinally knew he was coming.
