finally worked out what to do and you need to uninstall old run times and update gfx drivers.

I'm logged in but trying to get it setup with dk2

Wow it really does look first gen. Those earphones look a bit rubbish. Doesn't really matter once it's on though, it's the experience that will count.

And why on Earth has Ars allowed a balding, overweight, middle-aged man give a first look from what looks like his bedroom?!!

The earphones are meant to be fantastic by all accounts, perform much better than you'd expect from looking at them.

I'm not able to setup the dk2 with home however the games work perfectly. Lucky is fun and installing elite now :-)

There are a few things on Oculus home that are currently free, namely Henry and Lost, but these may not be free soon. So it's probably a good idea to get Oculus Home setup, get an account made, and get the games added to your library sooner rather than later. You don't actually need to own the Oculus yet, just get the games tied to your account

If its by debit/credit card they charge when it ships, I think Paypal takes it straight away (unless I'm confusing that bit with the Vive pre orders)

That's just Vive. I've ordered the Rift with Paypal and have yet to be charged.

So how come people are chatting about the somewhat mediocre reception of the Rift by the review sites? Seems the hand controllers are sorely missing.
