I dont have the vr lense lab lenses but apparently they are pretty much flush on the oculus lenses (though not touching) they sorta click into place apparently. So this should give much better fov as opposed to wearing glasses does. A couple of folk on the oculus forums were not happy with the results though.
I've also noticed that while VorpX now supports the Vive, it is not far along enough in terms of development for non-native VR titles, whereas the Rift is firmly established.
The built-in audio with the Rift is a huge selling point, and the simplified setup process and more ergonomic design also contributed to my decision. Do you have VorpX and managed to get it working to a good enough standard to actually play any of the 'compatible' games? If so I would be interested to hear which, all the games I have tried end up making me feel ill apart from maybe half life 2.
When I move my head it tends to move the world instead of just having head tracking which causes almost instant nauseous feelings. Half life 2 I cannot get the FOV right and everything feels too zoomed in, despite modifying numerous settings.
I thought my headset was ok because it was working plugged into my motherboard usb 3 ports. None of my USB 3.0 ports were compatible with the sensor, but it worked plugged into a USB 2.0 port. And everything seemed to be working ok.
But, I wanted to see would getting compatible USB 3.0 ports make a difference. So I purchased an Inateck USB 3 card weeks ago and yesterday it finally arrived. Installed it and connect both ports my headset and sensor are attached to it.
The difference? Massive. Everything is smoother, things look better. Head tracking is way better. Motion isn't as nausea inducing. It makes the whole experience so much nicer!!
If you haven't got compatible ports and are running off usb 2.0 ports do yourself a big favour and get the Inateck card.
Ive had both my oculus and vive plugged into usb 3 ports on motherboard, however it was causing problems. I then had to move my oculus sensor to usb 2 slot, and remove my mouse from there to a usb 3 slot. I have only two usb 2.0 slots![]()
Another usb problem i was having is with the xbox controller usb adaptor, it just didn't work in usb 3 so i had to also use that in usb 2. Now i have oculus sensor and xbox adapter in both my usb 2.0 slots.
The problem that I'm now having is my mouse, it just doesn't like the usb3.0 slot, sometimes it just goes crazy on itself and my mouse pointer flys to the top of the screen randomly!! Its very annoying especially during multiplayer games.
I was thinking of buying a usb adapter to add more usb 2.0 slots.
Just buy the Inateck adapter, it has 4 usb 3 ports, costs about £25. Plug your rift and sensor into that. That frees up your USB 2 port for your mouse.
