Oculus Rift

EDIT: Unrelated, but 10days after ordering my VR covers are en route, so expect a bit of a lead time if ordering them.

Hmm, I ordered on the 29th and they shipped on the 4th with standard shipping. Deutsche post say they arrived in the UK on the 10th, but the Royal Mail tracking just comes up with "Information on your International Signed item is not yet available." so the jury's out on whether I'll get them or not. Don't know what's normal for this kind of shipping really.

edit: got it (see further down)

Yeah have played Robo Recall, was the first touch based game I tried as its free, agreed its very very good.

Not tried Bullet Train, will try that later.

Ah, I thought you had your Rift for a while and somehow overlooked Robo Recall.

Bullet Train is like an early alpha for Robo Recall.

Gave Facebook spaces a go. If I had friends with rifts it'd be cool, but drawing a hairy knob and wearing it as a hat was at least amusing for a live stream

I've always dreamed of reproducing the cinema experience at home, and VR is the ideal solution!

Are there any recommendations for which software I should use? I was looking at Cmoar VR Cinema on Steam, but it appears to be limited to streaming and video files only?

Ideally I'd like to be able to use my existing Blu-ray library, and the only two applications that seem to support this is Big Screen and Virtual Desktop, which project your existing media player onto a virtual display. Both programs seem to lack the IMAX experience, however!

My first time in Robo Recall was weird. When I finished I came out of the game and looked at my real hands and they didn't feel real, it still felt like I was in the game...made me feel very odd. I've got my VR legs now and not so bad.

Played Dead and Buried today for the first time. Played one Horde level with FlukeRogi. It's intense, and a good workout too!!

Would be interested to see what a four player game is like.

Count me in, ping me on steam next time and I'll join you.

follow up - looks like royal mail's tracking is just bad for this type of thing - standard vr cover set was just delivered (no taxes - it was marked as €21.99). The tracking this morning was updated to say they are preparing it for international dispatch.

Going to be online from 7pm tonight, if anyone is around and wants to join up for some multiplayer VR games just give me a shout :)
Will try and get on. BTW, give Balloon Chair Deathmatch a look on Steam. Free to play for the weekend, and could be amusing for a bit of, erm, deathmatch..

Need to get a group together on Dead and Buried as well.

I am downloading it now :) Saw your post on the other thread.

Won't be on tonight chaps as I will be out, hopefully be around Saturday night though if anyone is still up for some VR goodness! (would be cool to get a group of four in D&B)

Just tried Balloon Chair deathmatch. First game in a long time that made me nauseous!!
I did genuinely wonder if you'd cope with that one (though was it the height or the movement?) ;)

Quite probably :)

I will be on tomorrow night. No social life :p:D

The height didn't get me at all as it didn't feel like I was up high.

It was definitely the movement.

I will be on in a bit, although it's the 9th anniversary with the missus tomorrow so will be unlikely to be back on again until Sunday. That said, 9 years does kill most of the romance :p
