I just bought the Virtual Desktop app from the Oculus store

Do you guys think it any good and worth $6.99 ?

I should asked this question before buying it

Not sure, but may be worth waiting a few days. The new Oculus home core 2.0 is coming on the 6th. It may come with some of the functionality you're looking for?

Download and install the Oculus home software whilst you're waiting for your rift to arrive, and create yourself an oculus account. Then you'll be ready to go the moment the rift arrives. I'd recommend using the standard home software initially rather than the beta home 2.0 until you've got it all up and running. There seems to be some issues with the 2.0 beta software, so you don't want to run into any avoidable problems when you're first trying it all out.

4m for the HMD and 2.5m (I think...) for the sensors.

I bought 4 USB Extension Cables just in case I needed them
Two 1 metre cables and Two 2 metre cables

Bought Oculus in the Black Friday sale and only just set it up last night. Spent the first ten minutes just laughing with my mouth hanging open. Can't believe the immersion. Just jaw dropping. Sure I can see the screen door thing and the resolution isn't as good as a monitor but OMG. OMG. OMG.
Best purchase I've made since.. Ever? Maybe.

Same man.... I got straight in and even the set-up programme had me the most excited I have been with PC gaming for a while.

I am a little nervous at the game support (well, Fallout4), I really don;t want this to just be a short term party piece but a well supported long term thing

I had a vive and sold it.... If I bought a rift could I play the 50 odd vr games I bought for the vive on the rift?

Can't think of any reason why not.

Don't jump in to the Core 2.0 / Dash beta straight away, as it has some issues. Stick with the normal home software until you get used to it.
