Oculus Rift

You haven't actually described your problem very well, such as what you're expecting but isn't happening (I'm not going to second guess you on this). And you haven't described with what software exactly you're having problems, "when I'm using my Oculus Rift" is not quite specific enough.

Also, you can modify the properties of each of those graphs and adjust the maximums. The problems with the memory clock for example would be more easily seen if you were to change it to say from 7500 down to 1200.

You are right Sir, i only described it in the Vega topic, thought its a bit more ontopic there. Anyway, i had a 1080 brought from work to test, when i switched the GPU , restarted to safe mode...and the system never stood up from there. Tried to fix it, but no luck.
A full reinstall sorted the problems. :)

How easy is it to use your own headset with the rift? Or are the included microphone and earphones good enough for gaming and teamspeak?

I'd just echo what Melmac said. Voice quality when playing with other Rift users isn't anything you'll give a second thought about (at least I don't) - it just works really well.

I was always going to get PSVR....but then I found out my PC is actually VR Compatible and the Rift is cheaper than I thought! Though it's on the low to mid end I imagine. (3570k CPU, 580 8GB GPU)

So I've had it penned in my head that I'm jumping into VR on March 29th (Two year anniversary) as I'm expecting a price cut to £349 for the Rift...maybe £299 (but doubtful on that one). And I've read the software for the Rift is much more suitable for my type of PC. (Low to Mid)

But someones offered me a barely used VIVE for £300.
I'm not sure that I want to take it due to the cost saving. Sure less wires are nice.
I will go room scale eventually to 3.5m square tops where it comes into its own. (Limited to 2x2m at the moment) But I can always buy a 3rd sensor... (Got ill relatives staying with me so spare bedroom will be a VR room when they're gone :D)

But I'm slightly put off that the Vive warranty is not transferable.
What I'm basically looking for is a pat on the back and say stick to the Rift :D

Yes, stick to the Rift. :)

Oculus leads Steam's hardware survey for the first time - Oculus 47.31%, Vive 45.38%, WMR 5.36%.

Given the weight of Steam's advertising power, this is one hell of an achievement. If only they sold their games on Steam as well.

That is great news. I bought the Oculus last week after using my brother's PSVR.

I'm having a problem with my rift it fails to start and shows an error message..... cant reach oculus runtime servcice any ideas how to fix this?

The latest update to Rec Room has apparently added full locomotion! Looking forward to trying it but surely it'll be an advantage in paintball etc? Not having to wait in one place for the cool down on teleportation has to help.

Should be interesting :)

How do they compare? I’m undecided between PSVR and Oculus.
My son bought a PSVR last week so I have spent more time comparing them side by side.

I find that the PSVR is quicker and easier to find the right comfort level. Just slip it on and move it to the right visual spot without having to mess with any straps.

They are both quite light but the Oculus needs to be worn properly by placing the rear triangle at the base of the skull so that the weight of it is carried on the back and top of the head via the overhead strap. The side straps are to be just tight enough to touch the face but not put pressure on it and can be pivoted down in the hinge from the forehead to help with that. It takes a lot of practise to get that right imo. If there is a print on your face when you take it off, then you have it on too tight.

The rubber just above the nose irritates me a little on the PSVR while the foam on the Oculus feels real nice until you start sweating which can feel like a slight stinging or itching as it absorbs the moisture.

Visually I reckon the PSVR has a slightly better black level and richer colours. It also doesn't have the light rays from white lettering or objects on a black background as much as the Oculus does. Oculus seems to have a higher resolution though which is noticeable which results in a clearer image. IPD setting is more accessible on the Oculus with a knob underneath while the PSVR has a software solution.

Oculus has very good Touch controls which fits the shape of the hands extremely well for all ages and hand sizes. It's hands down better than the PS Move controllers which are from the PS3 days and could do with updating. The Move controllers are missing a thumb stick which would really be beneficial imo.

Tracking is much better on Oculus by far and can be frustrating at times with the PSVR. The hand movements are not always smooth on PSVR unlike the Oculus even with only two sensors. With three sensors the Oculus tracking is amazing.

The sound solutions on both are pretty decent with the Oculus having good on-ear headphones. The PSVR has in-ear headphones which are not bad but not as good as the Oculus imo. They are both detachable and the PSVR has a output jack which the Oculus doesn't making PSVR more easier to use with a different set. I also found larger headphones to fit better with the PSVR as the ear area has more space around it.

Graphics are obviously down to the hardware of the PC and Console so with that in mind, I find the Oculus being the only choice for me as I have the hardware to get a really good experience. In my honest opinion I feel that the PSVR has the better all round head unit due to comfort, colour and black level which is important to me. The Oculus only has the resolution advantage as far as the head unit is concerned but......the combination of better graphics on PC with the ability to Supersample with customizable anti aliasing options and the incredible Touch controls means that I prefer Oculus.

Don't get me wrong though, the experiences are the same especially when playing the same games on both systems as VR itself is something to experience. If your not already a PC gamer with decent hardware or can't afford it now especially with the silly prices at the moment then PSVR is definitely worth it and less hassle as it's more plug and play.

These are just my opinions and I hope to have answered your questions. :)
