Maybe they are just **** at launches. When i ordered my dk2 they had them in stock and got it within a week with email notifications at every stage. So pretty good.

But i dont know if at the launch stage of the DK2 they were similarily crap at delivering to schedule or any kind of communication at all.

So just out of interest, there is a poster called VR-Researcher on reddit who is widely believed to be a puppet account for palmer or at least someone else at oculus (perhaps Abrash).... either that or one of the most successful and cunning trolls ever.

Anyway, they've been posting several comments on the reddit oculus user sub including this one:

and when someone said that surely this doesn't prevent oculus from telling it's customers something like "due to problems outside of our control yada yada yada" he replied that "You underestimate scope of contract."

Through various other small replies and conversations, people seem to have deduced it's most likely the processing company that have caused the slow roll out but they likely have a "cure" clause in their contract allowing them a specified period to make good before oculus can do anything about it.

I don't really know what to make of it all, and considering oculus would have chosen the partner that has caused this issue they aren't exactly clear of blame. It does make one hopeful though that if it is indeed simply the processing company that is the issue, then once the problem is sorted out there should be no shortage of stock to fulfil the original orders.

No it doesn't (at least not that I can see) - that was the post from anrgyoculusemployee stating that the delays were due to old lenses being installed and whatnot.

As I say VR-Researcher is an account that has managed to win credibility in the past, the anrgyoculusemployee one was a throw-away account created for th purposes of an april fools post.


Edit - not to say that it's 100% sure to be genuine of course, but I believe you have the two mixed up.

Ive just cancelled guys. The excitement has disappeared. Palmer and Oculus in general don't really come across too well.

Gonna keep the Vive though. As the room scale interests me much more and also it looks to ooze quality.
 
From what I'm reading, it looks like not a single pre-order has shipped to Europe so far. A couple of KS backers have trickled through but that's it.
 
Just read Kitguru news about Oculus Rift missed guaranteed March delivery date.

Not surprised at the news, I checked Oculus forum and found spreadsheet from a post showed nearly 1000 people pre-ordered Oculus Rift with about 700 got March shipping date but so far only 14 Oculus Rift headsets were delivered, 6 to kickstarters backers and 8 pre-orders!

It appears some of those who got the kickstarter CV1 have sold them on eBay for £1000-£1100 in the US / Canada.

Anyone to get theirs in UK would be in for some nice profit!
 
few idiots on ebay bidding upto £1000 for a march pre order one which as we all know is rather late.
