I don't think it's too bad at all... I mean ive driven a lot worse. Jesus my first car was a hyundai lantra (jura... or some other name like that)

Oh yea she was a beast, 1.5 litre 8 valvue powerplant, came complete with grandad seats, working air con, 20k odd miles, suspension from the stone ages which got out of shape even on the slow bends. Oh yea and a full tank of fuel as well.... All for the pricely sum of £200

I think that Soarer would look ten times better if it had the black wheels replaced with silver ones, and the bean tin exhausts thrown in the bin in favour of a subtle quad exhaust setup.

Oh and the number plate needs replacing.

I don't think it's too bad either, might not be up to ocuksnob standards but it's not that bad really.

Edit- the plates are the most offensive (and also illegal!) thing on it, the exhaust is pretty dodgy too.

I really don't think its aged all that bad at all... there are far worse looking cars on the road. Agree on the exhausts, do you often wake up with cats sleeping in them bad boys?

I'd just rattle can those wheels silver over a weekend tbh, won't cost much and so long as you prep it properly the finish can be really good, hell even mediocre prep work would make it look better from a distance :p

At least the plates aren't black and white, they look beyond awful on a modern car imo

uh oh... you have just done what every wanabe schoolboy drag racer across the country seems to do in their 1.6 100 bhp saxo, and that’s loose. :)

In all seriousness though for 100bhp in a small car you would expect them to be quicker. Or is this just me?

I think it was also the fact that I wasn't expecting him to go for it. I was in my "Fast, but no wheelspin and no bouncing off the limiter" mood (I hate launching FWDs) whereas he friggin wheelspun it off the line.

The VTRs are pretty nippy for their size, but not fast by any stretch of the imagination. Fun though - I love chucking it into a corner. Motorway cruising in it however is far less fun! I'll grow up soon and get a proper car. Besides, it's my first car. I should by law have stuck it on its roof by now!

It is time to face it, you will never grow up... just get more and more ridiculous in one way or another. This is a fact we should cherish rather than worry about. BTW I am one of the guys that would happily burn a saxo off the line just for the lol's. Even more so if it is chaved up - Which the large majority seem to be :)

Sounds like you need to work on your technique :p Supposedly the fastest way off the line is a tiny chirrup of wheel spin, too much is slow, no wheel spin means you're not putting enough power down. The actual amount varies with so many different factors, but about 5% slip is banded about a lot, in the same way that "55mph is the most efficient speed" so I've got no idea whether its true or not.

Then you've gotta decide where you going to wait: do you wait right on the line, revving like a chav, do you hang back but keep creeping forward slowly or do you go for the stealth approach - hang way back, make no signs that you'll floor it away from the lights, then be quick on the change and hope to make up that extra 1/2 car length by catching the other guy unawares.

You can apply science and logic to anything :p

Quite easily.

My Yaris beat a 320d.

You mean you accelerated off the line quicker than a 320d, probably because the driver hadn't even noticed you. I mean how do you get into a situation where you end up in a race with a 3 Series diesel when driving a Yaris anyway, lol. It's not like you pulled up beside a Focus ST in an Astra VXR which would instantly make the other guy tempted to have a go!

How could you lose in a VTR, I'm sure it's faster!

BMW 320d - 184bhp, 0-60 7.5 seconds. Even a Saxo VTS would probably be seen off. Let alone your Yaris.

Considering the lad in the 320d had hired it out and thought he'd give a bit of stick, I had him off the line all the way to 60. Then I backed off, and let him pass.

Paper figures don't really mean if the car was putting that much out. It's also down to the driver to make use of the car and it's potential.

Yea, I'm sure that in reality BMW lie and it's really only putting out 120bhp.

Don't be daft - thats the performance figures for the 320d.

I doubt this 'race' ever happened anywhere but your own mind :p

Was a hired car Fox, doubt they looked after it.

Yes it is the performance figures, but doesn't mean it was putting that much out. Could be down on power or have a fault.

The race did happen, I wouldn't come in here with made up stories then to be made a fool of.
