well no

Thats BS.

Evo has the book figure for the carrera GT was a 0-60 at 3.8 seconds and the ZO6 at 3.9 seconds

But some of the american magazines managed to record figures lower than that, of more like 3.6 seconds.

You could argue this was biased but at the end of the day the book figures for 0-60 are 0.1 seconds apart. Top speed of the Zo6 is 198mph, the Carrera GT is 205mph

Theres not a lot in it.

Not a lot in it in a straight line maybe, nurburgring says:
7:28.71 Porsche Carrera GT
7:42.99 Chevrolet Corvette C6 Z06

Thats a fair difference.

A brief storm this afternoon has turned the roads here into skating rinks.

Part of my drive home sees me pull out of a side road onto a single carriageway bypass. Now bearing in mind the Manta has about 85bhp at best, I was still wheelspinning in third. God knows what the people coming the other way when they saw the Manta crabbing diagonally down a main road, but it amused me on what's otherwise been a tedious day.

thats 14 second over a nearly 8 minute lap.

Thats a 3 % difference in lap time. Bearing in mind the close or in some cases faster straight line performance, its not exactly a case of the Zo6 "wouldnt see which way" the carrera GT went.

Thoughts?

4 doors? Check
Barge? Check
Unusual? Check
Not sensible? Definitely :D

Spares themselves are silly cheap on these, as with most yank stuff, but the shipping will hurt - so you best make a big order each time :)

Eventually. Still heart my 530i, though :(

Found an almost ideal one today though the dealer wants £23500 for it which is too much money for a 3 Series. Will keep an eye on it though, last one I watched dropped 3k..

You considered buying privately? There seem to be some decent ones for around this price and you don't have to deal with the inflated (and random) prices from the dealers, but you still get the warranty protection.

Stick with the Soarer for now. It ticks all the boxes for you at the moment, you will have plenty of chances in the future to change. Don't just buy another car for the sake of it.

Wanting a new car is something that pretty much everyone goes through.

Just tidy up the Soarer if you can do so with minimal expense.

This ^^

Save up so you have a bit more than £3k and then get something you'll be happy with for longer than 2 minutes :p

I do the same - but i have no idea why. I've been looking at 335i's for the past 4-5 months now and as much as i'd want one - i know that i could easily just hang onto my car for a while longer and still be perfectly happy. I'm going to hang onto my car until next year at least, then start looking for something a bit newer. The great thing is that it's not like i'm in a 1.2 Corsa and i'm desperate to get out of it - i love my current car and therefore i'd just have time to browse around and not really be bothered by it.

It's black, absolutely no black cars. It's also quite a poor spec - infact it has only two options, leather and nav. No USB interface is a biggie.

And no paying AUC prices for private cars either. It books at several grand under that.

I have all the time in the world so I can be as fussy as I want and wait as long as I want to get the right deal :)

Seriously dont you fancy a Boxster, really think youd get a belter for that money and the running costs would be the same.

No, its not my sort of car.

How so, out of interest?

To me they both seem to represent similar brand values of engineering, solidity and well.... Teutonic-ness :p And tbqh both leave me feeling cold as a result.

Obviously the Boxter will be less practical, but that can't be the only/real reason surely?
