I thought it was too cheap because all the other cars at this sort of money are pre facelift.

Most of the facelifted cars seem to be commanding a price of around 13/14k. A bit more than the 2k he said he knocked off.

But then it is a private sale and he possibly already marked it on the low side to get rip quickly, found that wasn't enough so knocked another 2k off.

It probably is a car selling for about 3k less than its worth and a bargain. But you don't get many bargains usually in the car trade ...

Remember it's an S4 not an RS4 so it's hardly some sort of M3 rival is it.

In terms of performance, I'd put the S4 closer to the M3 and the RS4 above.

Now, I'm not saying the S4 is as good as the M3, or the RS4 is better than the M3, that is just where I see them in the market.

The S4 sat in no-mans-land between the 330i and the M3 until BMW finally responded with the 335i. It's got far more in common with a 335i than an M3 - it's a quick, competent GT whereas the M3 is a precision instrument.

This.

So why were you comparing it to an M3 earlier? ;)

Some may or may not remember my Brother's MINI from the RR day @ Powerstation.. but he is featured in this months Modern MINI magazine :)

Bet he's chuffed with a magazine feature . What's he done to it?

Not sure I'd call it a 'trackday weapon' though. 250bhp sounds great... until you remember that they weigh the wrong side of a tonne , whereas your 'trackday weapon' caterfields have 250bhp and weigh 500kg :D.

New Mini plus extensive mods = at least a Westy, if not an Elise - maybe an Exige..

Means it's been pointless in terms of performance, but if he loves the car and has found it fun then it's been worthwhile.
