Yeah the paint is gorgeous still, one of the reasons I bought this particular one.

Yeah the 2JZ-GE is nearly identical to the 2JZ-GTE (the turbo one) still 3.0L. Main differences are the turbos, manifold and injectors. The GE can handle the same amount of power but generally started with a GTE makes it easier to tune.

Stock power of the NA is 225BHP with 221LB/ft torque. By the time you factor the trasmission loss and autobox, you are running around 170-180BHP at the wheels.

Not had it dynoed yet but looking to get it done soon enough. a lot of people overlook the NA supra as being all show no go etc but it still is a lot faster than the majority of cars on the road. The road presence it has is immense though, even Gibbo can testify to that!

Aye, the NA Supra seems to have a similar stigma to the Imprezza Sport/Turbo 2000 or the Lancer/Evo. But looking at the numbers that doesn't seem entirely fair...

The slushbox would be a deal breaker for me, but I do stop and turn whenever I see one that hasn't been ruined...

Yeah the difference between NA and TT supras isn't as much as Lancer and Lancer EVO. Pretty much just the engine, LSD and gearbox, the 6 speed was mainly available on TT but very rare on NAs(depending on spec).

I really enjoy the auto and makes the car more like a cruise-mobile than a B-road attacker say like a Clio or Integra.

The advantage of the Auto NA is that the box is the same as the Auto TT which can handle up to 400BHP before the box has to be modded, whereas the standard 5 speed manual in the NA is a lot weaker, so if you did a single turbo conversion or TT engine swap the clutch would have to be uprated which then becomes costly and still not as durable as the auto.

No worries, didn't think would last :p

I hadn't realised about the uprated box - I'd have thought it would able to handle less power.

Interesting...

a lot of NA Auto owners go the NA-T route (single turbo) or TT swap or to further extent TT swap but then convert it to a single turbo for silly power, 500BHP+.

I am trying to decide which would be better for me. The TT swap is cheaper and givves a better base for further tuning but the NA-T single trubo has a lot more linear power delivery as the NA-T conversion generally have smaller turbos whacking out 350-400BHP, the only problem is they cost twice as much! The NA-T is a lot more sought after and rarer too!

Yeah its, RWD, no traction control in my model either, so have to take it easy. However from what I have heard the traction control was very primitive in the Supra, it was either on or off so to speak!

IIRC TC can be retro-fitted to the Supra somehow? Maybe an aftermarket solution though?

WillGill had the TT IIRC, and I'm sure I remember him saying it was a challenge... Actually, didn't WG stack his, or was that the Exige?

Yeah, I had the Supra pegged as more of a GT than a sports car? Kind of like the 6 series/SL? How big/heavy is it compared to an E36 328/E46 330?

Peaky power delivery could finish up costing you a lot more if it increases the chances of you binning it as a consequence of coming on boost unexpectedly...

THe NA auto weighs in at 1480KG, with 158BHP/per ton. Which aint too bad. The TTs were around 50KG heavier and then an extra 30KG for the autobox.

TBH I'm gonna go to a meet with the supra owners club and try blag a few pasenger rides in TTs and NA-T before I decide what would probably suit me best!

However I want to make the rest of the car up to scratch before toying with the power, its more than quick enough for me in its current state!
