***Offical Dead Rising 2 Thread***

That's the whole point of the save/time system - you cannot do every case in a single sitting.

You could in the first one (I did it the other day, doing every case and beating every psychopath), but you need to be level 50 ideally (so you're as fast and strong as possible), and need to know the game inside out as you need pretty much perfect time management. It's not impossible but it was certainly hugely challenging. When I hit level 50 in DR2 I'll be trying to do it here as well to see if it's possible :)

However, Dead Rising 2 isn't designed to be finished in your first playthrough. You're pretty much guaranteed to fail the cases at some point, or die because your character isn't strong enough. I've already had to restart the game once as I mistimed how long it would take me to do the first case and ran out of time. Instead of reloading a save, I restarted the story so I could keep my character level, and it was much easier 2nd time around, saving most of the survivors I've been told about so far, and doing the story missions in good time.

If people are having trouble with it and failing missions, I'd always recommend restarting the story off instead of trying to reload an earlier save. The additional character levels you'll keep are well worth it, especially as by level 12-13 (where I think I am) you'll have a decent amount of health and can carry 6-7 items at once, which makes it much easier to prepare yourself for the zombie horde.

i really want to like this game, but i couldnt get on with the first one, is it improved at all??
I think it'll depend on why you didn't like the first one. If you thought the controls were the problem then I think they've been fixed, as they're much better this time around. You also get 3 save slots here, something most people complained about in the first game, only having one slot.

However, if you just didn't like the gameplay then not much has changed. You're still trying to kill zombies in the most inventive ways possible while solving the story. That's still the same as the first game, so if that was the problem for you, then you probably won't like this much better.

Rar! Now that was my very plan a month ago, but I never managed to put it into action.

I must have played DR1 well over 15 times and had a Lv50 char too. I was going to replay it prior to DR2's arrival but strayed off the path when Mafia 2 arrived :/

Anyone who has played the game, do you start off in the mall and then explore further into Fortune City? And is the whole of FOrtune city open to explore like I originally thought it would be?

Anyone had much fun in the casino?

I only had 4 of the achievements left and wanted to knock off Saint and Transmissionary before DR2, and managed to get them both over 2 playthroughs. Only the 5 and 7 day survivor achievements left, which can wait until Christmas I think.

You basically start in the security room after a short opening sequence, and that leads you out into one of the malls. There seem to be a few places locked off to start with, but by doing the first Case fully one of those places will be unlocked. I've not actually tried exploring everywhere yet though, it's a big map and I'm trying to save as many survivors as possible to level up as quick as I can.

Edit: Only played a little in the casinos so far. Played a little video poker and the slots, then found a broadsword on the wall so had lots of fun with that as well :D

Nice! I always intended to go back to DR1 and try and finish off the achievements asI loved the game, just never got round to it. Might chuck it in the rental queue though I have a feeling I've lost my original save.

I'd offer to send you my save game so you could use my character but I'm fairly sure that the DR saves are one of the few that can't be transferred off. If you get the game and need a save let me know and I'll try to sort mine out onto a memory stick for you :)

Sounds epic!

I hope I get my 360 back today (but I guess it will be next week now) as soon as I do though I will be getting this and ploughing lots of time into it. :D

Shame they've added more save slots so that people don't cry. :(
I liked the save system being a mild effort, it made you think about what you were doing.

From some comments, I can already see Dead Rising 2 being slated for the same reasons as Dead Rising 1... It's slightly difficult and nobody plays it until their character is a reasonable level.

someone should tell them that there is no excuse for such dated, awful graphics!. I remember Res Evil 2 looking better! havent they seen Assassins Creed2 and how good that looks!

From the brotherhood comment afterwards... Why did you even buy the game? This isn't meant to be Assassins Creed...
And Resident Evil 2 having better graphics? I can only assume you're on drugs, or using a 14" black and white CRT.

It's obviously a different game you're playing as the graphics are perfectly acceptable.

One thing I'm loving so far is that escorting survivors is so much easier than in DR1. I've not experienced many things as infuriating as trying to escort a group of survivors in DR1, watching them plough headfirst into a group of zombies or getting stuck on scenery. In DR2 they're much smarter, battering their way through zombies and only seeming to get grabbed if they stand still for too long (which they won't do if they're following you). Much better this time around.

I'm glad they have sorted that problem out from the first one, it was the most infuriating thing to get survivors so far and then have them stand still and get attacked as they stood still.

Question of great importance...
Would the multiplayer work over system link? Going round a mates for a few beers/Dead Rising 2 tonight, but figured it could be decent if we could both mash up zombies at the same time... If it's possible, might just have to get it sorted.

Nipped into one of the supermarkets this lunchtime and picked it up. I based my decision to purchase off the love of the first one, and how strong I found Case Zero.

What did you think of the first one Radiation? If it wasn't really your thing then it's maybe not the wisest idea for a full price purchase.

I played for 2hrs straight last night, but was just mucking around to get familiar with the game again. I reached upto the hotness that was Rebecca Chang and she escorted me to the TOILETS (hurr) so I saved there. I'm also doing the one slot save lark.

Rescued about 4-5 survivors as they were close to the security room. I quite like the fact that you can make 'special' weapons in the maintenance rooms. I made one with a large toy godzilla head+firework, which was amusing :D

The engine seems rather identical for the most part, apparently it can handle even more zombehs at once than before but that remains to be seen.
