Got from cd keys at cheaper than rip off steam
Steam is occasionally useful if you need a refund though.

I refunded Suicide Squad recently because I could tell I wasn't going to enjoy it.

Anyway, with regards to this game how much is it a direct sequel to the first?

Like I wouldn't play Mass Effect 2 without playing Mass Effect - But other game sequels aren't so directly related.

Knowing how the first game goes and the nature of the story, I don't think it's required playing to enjoy/understand the sequel.

The first one goes places near the end so you may be more alert/perceptive to details that might come up, if they go down the same route again.

This isn't a direct sequel according to the games director, so you don't need to have played the first game. It takes place in a parallel universe. I can't remember much of the first game, as it was over 10 years ago when I played it.

Game seems to have serious CPU performance issues that Capcom are aware of. Might be an AMD CPU problem as seen other screenshots of higher frame rates on intel.

Review up from Fextralife as well, not seen it all but he seems like to like it, though he liked the previous one as well.

He does say that it's a big time investment though, and you have to like games that don't hold your hand too much.

He does call out performance but says that whilst it does suck, it's still playable as is, and doesn't ruin the game. I suspect performance patch can fix some of it.

Seems to be general consensus from reviews that the game is good, but performance is very lacking.

Dragon's Dogma 2 currently has high demands on hardware, with the Steam Deck struggling to run at playable rates and even high-end machines of an RTX4090 paired with an AMD 5800X3D CPU can drop into the 30s whilst in the denser populated towns.

Oof, that's not got reading.

Looks good in videos so far but I’m going to wait for a few performance patches too. Not in any major hurry, I’d rather wait a few weeks/months and get a smoother experience (hopefully)

It's only a time investment if you want it to be. If you just do the main story the game takes 20 hours to finish

With a game this big I definitely think it's worth spending more time on it, no chance I'm going to just beeline the main stuff unless I really hate the combat or something.

It looks good though, what vocation are people going to start with? I'll probably begin with fighter just to get up in the action.

If it's anything like the first it might pay to rotate around them all as you play through to unlock the shared perks quickly, but also distribute some of the stat growth, particularly for the defences.

I was considering focusing on 2-3 vocations I think.

If NG+ is any good I may change it up a bit for that :)

I was debating between Thief and Fighter. Not really decided yet. I know I want to go Mystic Spearhand eventually.

Main pawn will be a Mage, with a Sorcerer and probably Archer for the other two.

Had a quick watch of the ACG video. This looks like something I could enjoy. Going to wait 6-12 months for bugs to be fixed and grab it half price me thinks :)
