That with DLSS on or off?

Dlss off, native 1080p

I'm not sure if DLSS will help much, because it's CPU bottlenecked - for example the framerate with a 14700k and 4070ti is 72% higher than framerate with 9700k and 4070ti, only difference is the cpu

Definitely looks like PC with DLSS on gives the best performance. I'm fine with 59-60 fps in the wilds at 4k with DLSS

It will be higher fps than native when you are GPU bottlenecked, thats usually in the open when nothing is happening.

And then once you get into a town or have lots of enemies on screen it looks like this and you have the GPU chilling at 50% to 60% usage and when its like this, you can turn DLSS off, you turn DLSS on performance mode and the framerate doesnt change

Absolutely inexcusable performance "optimisation".

This reeks of Witcher 3 next gen, remember CDPR took many months to fix it and it was nearly a year before they finally sussed CPU utilisation in RED engine. It's their own engine so they were able to get it done properly, whereas this uses RE engine which is not built for the kind of open world setting DD2 has. I'm siding with the crowd that reckon it probably will never get properly fixed as a result. You'd think Capcom would know the limits of their own engine right?

The Last of Us on PC also had the exact same issue, whatever upscaler setting you chose made no difference, it is inherently a CPU utilisation issue with the optimisation in the engine but luckily Naughty Dog managed to suss that in the in-house engine too.

That's why I only just completed TLOU and won't be buying this game for 6-12 months either. I get it half the price as you and get the benefit of mrk beta testing :D
