Offical PSP2 (or rather NGP) Thread

Will be great to replay Uncharted/MGS/GTA 4/R&C on the PSP2

Are these games ports? I haven't read much into these games but when reading NGP has the same quality as the PS3, this makes me think these games will be the real deal.

One thing I think they missed out on was rumble... :p

It wasn't mentioned but this site (http://www.vg247.com/2011/01/25/rum...u-and-gpu-of-apples-next-gen-iphone-and-ipad/) had practically every single spec correct before the event and they list it as having 16bg internal and considering the PSPgo also has 16gb internal storage I think it's a safe bet that the NGP will have at least that also.

thats not too bad for a handheld though... But double that would be better as seeing as this is next gen and the size of game data for say uncharted 1 will be a lot more then for say PSP GT etc... Of cause you have the new media flash drive, so not all games need to be stored on the device. The PSPGO was a big mistake in that regard.... No problem downloading some games from PSN, but how much data will MGS4 contain?

If this is around £300 on launch I might treat myself. If its any more then I'll have to wait until the price drops a tad. I'll keep my eye on the developments of this device, but so far its looking good...

Sony say NGP price will be "affordable"

Not sure what 'affordable' is in Sony's world but perhaps it rules out an expectationally high price at least.

lol. Not a chance in hell. Affordable to me is under £200. Affordable to Sony is them charging what ever they like and saying people are stupid and will pay anything they want to charge.

I paid £500 for my ps3. Was an import and had it 5 months before UK release date. Was a waste of money because the launch games were rubbish apart from Resistance.

That’s so arbitrary though… I mean, to me affordable is priced at around £300 but to some they would see more or even less then this as affordable..

Depending on lifestyle and income each person sees what is affordable much differently… I mean, some thing a launch title at £39.99 is too much and wait for it to reach that magic £25 price point. Yet some feel COD Black Ops was £45.99 was affordable, yet I didn’t.

We’ll have to wait and see. As you say, what Sony sees as affordable could be totally different to what the general public see it as, and willing to pay. I do think however though, its PS3 all over again.. Cram as much tech in as possible but see the production costs escalate…

Is it only just recently that the PS3 has now become profitable? And how much did that launch for in the UK? £600? It was a lot of tech though, sounds like Sony are at it again…

I guess they feel its worth it, after all PS3 sales haven’t been too bad and even though its been a loss leader for Sony for some time, the blu ray loyalties and profits from games must be good, good enough to try again with what looks to be a very high spec handheld..

*I might be talking utter rot BTW* lol

Nope afraid not, just marketing spin.

Sony will say something along the lines of, for what your paying you are getting some very good hardware and to buy it all separately will cost much more, there for making it affordable, same thing Nintendo is going with the 3DS

The console itself looks amazing.

As for games they are making it too easy for developers just to rehash all their PS3 games. I know Nintendo do it (and are certainly doing it with the 3DS with N64 games) but at least they do a lot of original games, and Mario/Zelda/etc. games made for the system at least try to do something different.

This'll all depend on the games. Or if it gets the next CoD that'll pretty much get people to buy it :D

I only just noticed you made an earlier thread on this as well msmalls :(, sorry dude, I can get carried away sometimes, didn't mean to step on your toes, didn't expect anyone else to be posting a thread on this so early, I thought I was the only crazy one on here that stayed up so late for these events.

This is interesting, multiple SKU's?

"The first thing to clarify, which I'm not sure the presentation did a perfect job of doing today, is that all of the devices will have Wi-Fi capability; a separate SKU will have 3G,"

So it looks like we're having the option of a cheaper non-3g model.

EDIT - There are conflicting reports regarding this story now from a few sites so don't take this as gospel yet sorry.

EDIT 2 - Right, it's seems that there could still be multiple SKU's but they will all have 3G.

Makes sense, 3G tablets are largely unpopular (who want's another network contract, subbed or otherwise) and the modem chip can be removed easily (as it won't be a part of the main SoC/PoP)

Well I'm hoping it hit's for £299, if it can do that then I feel the premium over the 3DS is worth it considering the tech.

Parts and manufacturing alone will exceed $200 per device...
