Propably, but that also means we will get shafted with ported PS3 games costing too much.Sony have already stated that the NGP will be sold at a lose initially.

Makes sense, 3G tablets are largely unpopular (who want's another network contract, subbed or otherwise) and the modem chip can be removed easily (as it won't be a part of the main SoC/PoP)
Parts and manufacturing alone will exceed $200 per device...
so some things should be cheaper such as the screen and chips.
Sony say NGP price will be "affordable"

Not sure what 'affordable' is in Sony's world but perhaps it rules out an expectationally high price at least.

I'd love to see the homebrew machine that this could become! With those specs it could dominate any media that you threw at it and eat emulators for breakfast!
I wouldn't. As we've seen with the recent events concerning the PS3 homebrew stuff that isn't just what it brings. It also brings piracy and more importantly to me as a gamer it brings hackers who totally butt **** the entire online experience.

Sony hasn't really learned any lessons. Beautiful piece of kit, but it's still the same demographic and it's still going to be a prohibitive price point.
My pessimistic view is that this is a disaster waiting to happen.
