***Official 2010 F1 thread***

Have you actually seen a copy of Button's contract then

Why did Brawn say (up until Button was seen at Mclaren) that 2010's drivers hadn't been sorted out yet? Surely they would have confirmed this 3 year contract.

I was about to explain what I think has probably happened (to do with contract options and Button's paycut at the start of the season), but I know you'll just quote that part of my post and say "Have you seen the contract?" so I'll save it for another time. :)

He backed out of 2 deals with Williams - admittadly, for the first year he had to valid contracts and when it went to the Contract board they sided with Honda, but the second year was valid and he backed out of it when Williams lost the BMW engines - costing him a sizeable chunk of cash.

All the people saying it was the managers fault... Who signed the contract agreeing the terms? The manager or the driver?

It cost him nothing, Honda paid the 'fiine' on that contract indirectly through a greatly exagerrated pay deal.

I dont blame him for the Williams dealings. It had nowt to do with BMW, it was because Richards withheld his performance based earnings.

They owed him millions, he quit BAR for valid reasons and Honda had Richards removed as they wanted Button. Richards was removed so he stayed, he had to pay compensation to Williams but don't think any of that came out of Jensons pocket.

As for Brawn, they are just crying for a foul up thinking they held all the aces. Jenson is free to sign for whoever he wants, just the same as Alonso signed years in advance of being released to go to mclaren.

Jenson hasn't broken any contract, Brawn were just not happy he visited mclaren. Drivers visit teams and factories all the time, as do their managers.

Hardly contract breaking.

Some people look for any excuse to rag on a driver they dislike and invent reasons.

.

I always saw it as BAR owed him millions and that is why his Honda contract was bigger than maybe it should be - and then JB paid for the fine owed to Williams himself

I've heard hot news from the Mercedes camp about Raikonnen this morning, he's v.close to signing a contact.. they're just finalising the supply of ice cream within the garage. ;)

I'll get my coat... :o

why are we still posting everything in the same thread ?

You've got a whole forum to go at guys. Why not have a thread for every news event or driver news ?

this is exactly why we got the forum so you dont have to read 4 pages of a thread just to find the bits you want to read :)

Time to close this thread please mods.

Won't happen he came up with a bad neck when he realised how utterly off the pace he was compared to a nobbler like Massa without electronic advantage ;)

what kind of retarded statement is that? he started racing when all the driving aids werent around you muppet

he wasnt slow then either

I like having one thread like this. Far simpler. Maybe end this thread and start a new one when winter testing starts.

I do wonder if his injury was the whole story... I'm also surprised how slow GF was in the Ferrari. Maybe MS did figure that he wouldn't be competitive and had no desire to roll round the back of the field like GF (and LB) did.

I thought that. It was obvious he wanted to make a come back, but after all the hype did he really want to be trailing round the back of the grid. With headlines like schumacher has lost it bla bla bla following.

I always said if he didn't drive because his neck was bad, he would definetly want to drive next season. Having gone through the motions of returning and then to drop out, must be heart wrenching. If it were me i'd want to drive again even more.

I'm not sure about mercedes though. He seems incredibly close to ferrari and i'm sure has a big contract with them, to just be able to say he's off to mercedes. I'm not sure if thats possible
