***Official 2010 F1 thread***

Am I right to think Ferrari are will still be paying Kimi 17 million (dollars? euros?) for 2010 as the final year in his three year contract?

Does this mean he remains contracted to Ferrari and if he were to sign for another F1 team he'd lose his Ferrari money? If that's the case then Kimi would be looking for at least 17 million and/or a multi year deal. No wonder he can't find anything.

Yep that is the case :p

Brawn have a nerve tbh, moaning about jenson visiting wokinig yet holding talks with many other drivers.

What did they expect? It they hadn't messed about and got on with it they wouldn't be in a mess where they now have to pay kimi a frankly absurd amount of money so he gets his demotivated backside in a car. They now know they have no team leader.

Funniest of all is Brawn never liked or rated Kimi. Part of the arguments at ferrari was he never wanted him and now he's going to have to pay stupid money to get a driver he doesn't like.

They should have wrapped jensons deal up months ago.

But hang on, didnt Mercedes say they wanted 2 German drivers - Heidfeld and Rosberg? Why would they want Kimi?

For 17M Euros, Kimi hardly offers good value. The only team which would be interested in Kimi would be Toyota, but they no longer exist.

Given they have lost out on Button, I really do believe that it would be best to stick with Heidfeld and Rosberg, as there aren't many experienced drivers available.

What about Trulli, is he still available?

I'd rather have Heidfield than Trulli......
Less likely to be hopeless on race day holding up half the grid, or crash and blame someone else :p
Heidfield and Rosberg should be an ok driver lineup imo. Rosberg is a quick driver, Heidfield is experienced and very consistent.

'BREACH OF CONTRACT COST BUTTON £12M'

Also this made me laugh:
"Clearly, loyalty would be nice but in this day and age you don't expect too much of that."

Sour grapes from Mr Fry. JB stood by you with the dog cars from honda, Cheeky. I cant see brawn being a front runner next year, not when Mclaren and Ferrari stopped 09 dev to start 2010 mid season.

Loyalty would be nice? How many years did Button stick with (mostly rubbish) Honda machinery?

He gets 17m if he doesn't drive at all from Ferrari, and 10m from them if he drives for somebody else. So in theory the new team only need to pay him 7m and he'll be just as well off.

Cant see Kobayashi getting a drive now, not without any Toyota backing. No one will take a risk on him when they can bring in a sponsorship/pay driver (Senna, Piquet et al)
