Button's loyalty is without question...

How many contracts has he broken now? ;)

One which he paid for out of his own pocket (and was widely put down to his manager at the time, who was sacked shortly afterwards), he was also 19/20 - so its hard to critisze the guy ten years later

  • Williams
  • Renault
  • Brawn GP
Have I missed any out . . .

I suspect that next year's McLaren will be a better car than the Silver Arrows but against his 30 pieces of silver he will have Hamilton to contend with and will not have #1 driver status or Ross Brawn to support him. :(

You invested two

Renault was only ever a two year contract

Brawn all he broke was an OFFER not a contract

and even Williams still wanted him even after the MISTAKE he made ten years ago

Get over yourself - he isnt and has never been a judas (30 piences of silver), get your facts right before trying to stir things up in the future

:o where's my hat and who's supplying the ketchup..

Don't have any ketchup, do have caramelised onion chutney with balsamic vinegar.... We're posh here. ;)

Exactly what Brawn contract do you think he's broken?

Well given the complaints from Brawn that visiting the McLaren Technical Centre was breach of contract...

That makes it 2 Williams and 1 Brawn.

He backed out of 2 deals with Williams - admittadly, for the first year he had to valid contracts and when it went to the Contract board they sided with Honda, but the second year was valid and he backed out of it when Williams lost the BMW engines - costing him a sizeable chunk of cash.

All the people saying it was the managers fault... Who signed the contract agreeing the terms? The manager or the driver?

As far as I can tell it's breach of an offer, nott a contract. We will pay you 12million and a 3 year deal, but the offer only stands if you don't go to have a look around McLaren. That's how I read it anyway. In which case no contract was broken.

It isn't really a question of what I think, it's a question of what Brawn GP believe. It appears that they believe that Button broke some term(s) of a contract that runs until the end of 2009. It also seems that they will enforce a clause in that contract that will prevent Button from working with McLaren prior to January 1st 2010.

Those are two different points.

Most teams sign drivers till the end of eh year, mos will release them early, although they have no obligation to. That is not braking a contract.

The other ones is described as a 12million, 3year offer on the table with part of the terms being he is not to visit McLaren. So again it is not breach of contract as such. It is part of the conditions of the offer, Button broke those conditions and so the offer was removed.

if it was breach of contract, they would be suing him. It is not it is a breach of the offer so hey have removed the offer. not that button could care less. Now they have gone in a hissy fit. here is no point keeping Button and hey could have got McLaren to pay to end his contact early. All they have done is cut of their nose to spite their face.

Have you actually seen a copy of Button's contract then
